Neverwinter Nights 2: Mask of the Betrayer Review

ActionTrip brings us the latest online review of Obsidian Entertainment's Neverwinter Nights 2: Mask of the Betrayer, in which they give the expansion an overall score of 86/100. It probably would have scored higher, but a few bugs and the continued camera issues brought it down a notch:
...with all the NWN 2 patches applied, everything mostly works better than before; but alas still not without errors. Certain bugs are present and may spoil your experience on a number of occasions. Personally, during one of my quests I couldn't pass through one of the shadow portals. Getting back to a saved game solved the problem, albeit I did experience the issue one more time.

Overall, this add-on is a job well done compared to some of Obsidian's earlier work. It's certainly an expansion pack worth playing, with a variety of features that actually improve the gameplay quite a bit. The addition of dark powers broadens the depth of the game and blends perfectly with the storyline. Although the flawed camera is, in all fairness, one of the game's rare drawbacks, it is, undoubtedly, a very serious issue. To think that, to this day the developers simply failed to fix all the technical flaws and to establish a more appropriate and intuitive solution for the game's default camera is an embarrassment.
