If Abyssal Forge was in Darksiders II proper, it would've been a highlight dungeon of the game. The characters may not get the time they're due, and the story is pretty surface, but it introduces a unique and exciting new environment which contains some of the most inspired puzzles and challenging new combat encounters in the franchise. It may be brief at a couple of hours, but if you own Darksiders II, then Abyssal Forge is required playing.

In the end, The Abyssal Forge is a noticeable improvement over the Argul's Tomb add-on, though, once again, there's not enough to it. When you're paying a sizeable price for extra content like this, it should be longer than an hour or two. However, with that being said, fans of the game will surely enjoy the brief adventure that this add-on includes.

Look, I enjoyed Darksiders II a lot. I also rather liked Argul's Tomb, even though I took issue with certain aspects of it, such as the price. Abyssal Forge, however, felt like it was phoned in. It's much shorter than its predecessor and can be cleared in much less than an hour, so long as the glitches don't halt your progress. It's also more expensive, as eight hundred MSP (or $10) is far too much to justify investing in this, especially since I couldn't even physically finish it on account of the bugs. Regardless of your love of the game, I recommend passing on Abyssal Forge. Hopefully, the next piece of content is more of an effort.
