Eschalon: Book II Peek #2

Category: News ArchiveHits: 1002
Book II has improved upon its predecessor in numerous ways, starting with a tighter focus on the storyline while retaining the general non-linear and openly explorable world. As with the first game, players can choose to stick to the narrative or just adventure on their own, with several endings to accommodate their respective play styles. What we've strived to do is create a game where the open world exists for adventurers to discover whether they follow the central tale or not.
While returning players will feel familiar with the mechanics of the game, nearly everything underneath the hood has been updated to reflect the requests made by fans of the first edition. Features such as an auto-stacking inventory, a ring for maintaining acquired keys, an improved alchemy mixer and spell journal are just a few of the dozens of enhancements made to the engine. Book II's interface is intuitive and has a very easy learning curve, again thanks to the suggestions made by players. Additionally, many aspects are customizable, such as the ability to re-map keys for common keyboard shortcuts, boost the baseline luminosity of the world if you are playing on a dim monitor, or alter the default path so that you can control where the system saves your game to.
