The End of Too Human?

Rumors emerged last year that the studio was working on something called "Siren in the Maelstrom," but there's been no hint that the planned trilogy is still in the works. At a guess, the studio is ready to move on after the messy development and horrendous PR that came with Too Human. It'll be a shame if they decide to abandon RPGs all together though.I spent about 3 minutes with Too Human and it's been sitting on one of my shelves ever since. It wouldn't break my heart if there was never a Too Human 2.

I have no special attachment to the Too Human series -- I honestly forgot about it just as quickly as everyone else -- but there's a part of me that has a deep longing for a solid Diablo-style RPG on one of the current-generation consoles. I know that's a funny thing to say given my dislike for cooperative gaming in general, but I think there are a couple advantages inherent to such an RPG. The customization and constant loot drops help make the experience feel less rote and pointless, while the dungeon crawling gives me the feeling that the game is actually going somewhere. That's probably an oversimplification, but I felt like those were the strengths of Torchlight, and it's something I would like to spread over to the consoles.
Sadly, I'll more than likely have to keep my fingers crossed for a console version of Diablo III if I want anything like that on the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3. It's just a hunch, but it feels like Silicon Knights has washed their hands of Too Human. If that's the case, then I would argue that it's a missed opportunity to make good on the promise of the original game. It would be an uphill climb, but a doable one.
