On Food, Release, and Game Manuals

Regarding the inclusion of food and drink in DAoC: For what it's worth my feeling on food/drink requirements is that the majority of items should be purely for social interaction with other players. While I can see having some special items for occasional uses, I would find the requirement that you eat/drink every xxxx hours to be pretty frustrating, annoying and repetitive. Unlike a standalone RPG where you will be tired of/defeat the game relatively quickly, having to do that forever in DAoC would bore me to tears. This is purely a personal preference and I see the reasons why people would like it as part of a game.
The game's release schedule: We are right on track to an October release in the stores. For those of you who are working in the retail channels that our game will be selling in, your buyers are getting lots of information and visits from the folks at VU now. :)
Discussing the game's manual: We are not neglecting the manual. We put together a rough-hewn version based on what has been written so far by us. This information is going to be turned over to a experienced, professional writer for additional writing, illustration and layout. I think that having a well-written, extensive and useful manual in the box is the least that should be expected from a publisher of a game such as DAoC.
Mark also talks about having a hard-copy manual in DAoC's box, having a strategy guide with actual strategies, and how they're discussing with Vivendi on how they can let people pre-order the game.
