Commendations
The title appears to have been successfully adapted for the west. Skill and job advancement quests are integrated seamlessly within the normal course of play. The avatars have exceptional eyes and faces, and show excellent attention to detail in their muscle tone and bone structure. The landscapes look authentic, and are easy to navigate and fun to explore. The DNA system adds further opportunities for character customization and the Beast Possession element allows players to morph into monster for short periods of time to get out of sticky situations. Each evening in game time, the world enters Nightmare mode, during which particularly powerful monsters and more valuable rewards can be found. Movement with the keyboard is notably clean and responsive, and camera adjustments very smooth.
Reservations
Although bloody and dark, Requiem may not fully deliver the kind of experience its marketing suggests, one its 18 and older target audience will find truly disturbing; the male and female characters' cleavage can feel more graphic than the combat. The prologue seems somewhat generic, presenting only a limited sense of why the players are in the world. Some consider soloing less practical after switching jobs at level 20. Classes that can't equip heavy armor may think their defenses don't improve enough as they level up and face tougher enemies.
