Despite the limited amount of time at their disposal, Obsidian did an honorable job in making KotOR 2, which in some respects outshines its predecessor. But the high bug count and numerous technical problems, cumulated with an obviously rushed ending detract from the final mark of the game, which is a real shame. Nevertheless, this is one RPG you shouldn't miss for any reason and it's definitely one of the best games of the year. And without a serious contender, I can't see how it won't become the RPG of the year.

You almost certainly came to this review looking for an answer to one of two questions. Namely, is it better than the original, and is having played the original a prerequisite? Although this is still a high-quality affair, sadly it isn't as good as its forbearer. The new planets aren't as memorable, the plot is a bit shaky, the new characters are harder to bond with and there are some bizarre design choices. Take the planet of Telos. Here, you'll spend at least an hour acting as little more than a messenger, and there's a loading screen every time you go between the planet's many apartment blocks. You don't get a Wookie on your side unless you follow the dark path either, which is disappointing.
