Location: Dunwich Building

Did we miss anything in this section? Is there something we didn't discover? Let us know!

Overview

This location pays homage to the short story “The Dunwich Horror,” written by H. P. Lovecraft in 1929. In the story, a young man named Wilbur tries to steal a book so he can perform a dark ritual, but he dies during the attempt. In the building here, if you find all of the journal entries (#2, #3, #8, #10, #15), then you’ll learn about a young man named Jaime who is also searching for a book. He’ll find the book (as far as we can tell), but things won’t end well for him, either (#18).

1 - Billy’s Skeleton (Lower Level)

Clutched by the skeleton you’ll find a grenade box and an ammunition box.

2 - Journal Entries (Lower Level)

On a small table here you’ll find Jaime’s Personal Journal: Entries 01 to 05.

3 - Journal Entry (Lower Level)

On the counter here you’ll find Jaime’s Personal Journal: Entry 06.

4 - Storage Closet (Lower Level)

Inside the storage closet you’ll find two mine boxes, a grenade box, an ammunition box, and a bottle of Nuka-Cola Quantum.

5 - Staircase

6 - Door (Upper Level)

When you get close to it, the door here will open all by itself. Spooky!

7 - Staircase

8 - Journal Entry (Lower Level)

You’ll find Jaime’s Personal Journal: Entry 07 on a desk here.

9 - Vision

When you reach the doorway here you’ll have a brief vision of somebody from an earlier time, and then a glowing one will attack you.

10 - Desk (Lower Level)

On the desk you’ll find Jaime’s Personal Journal: Entry 08, plus a terminal. One of the terminal entries (perhaps made by Jaime’s father) will reference the book that Jaime is searching for. “Got to keep it safe.”

11 - Staircase

12 - Storage Closet (Upper Level)

You’ll find a copy of Dean’s Electronics in the shelves here.

13 - Locked Office (Upper Level)

When you enter this office, some items will go flying off the desk. More spookiness! If you search the office then you’ll find a first aid box, two ammunition boxes, a grenade box, a Chinese Assault Rifle, a skeleton, and a terminal. If you read the lone terminal entry then you’ll learn that the skeleton was a scavenger, and that he was waiting for Billy (#1), but that Billy obviously never showed up.

14 - Staircase

You won’t really need to bother with this staircase. There are so many holes in the floor in this part of the map that it’s easier just to drop down.

15 - Desk

You’ll find Jaime’s Personal Journal: Entry 09 on the desk here. Jaime won’t sound too sane anymore.

You’ll need to drop down through the floor here to continue on in the Underchambers.

16 - Staircase

17 - Bobblehead

You’ll find a Bobblehead - Melee Weapons doll sitting on the floor here.

18 - Jaime / Obelisk

You’ll finally meet Jaime in this cavern. He won’t be in the mood to talk; he and his ghoul pets will simply attack. You’ll gain karma when Jaime dies, and you’ll find a Chinese Assault Rifle on his corpse. You’ll also find three ammunition boxes in the cavern, but you won’t come across the book that Jaime was looking for, which is probably just as well.

Exits:
  1. Exit to the wasteland.
  2. Doorway between the Dunwich Building and the Forsaken Ruins.
  3. Doorway between the Forsaken Ruins and the Virulent Underchambers.
  4. Doorway between the Virulent Underchambers and the Dunwich Building. You won’t be able to reach this doorway from the main part of the Dunwich Building. You’ll only be able to use it as an exit from the Underchambers.
