Overview: Western Suburbs

Did we miss anything in this section? Is there something we didn't discover? Let us know!

Notable Locations

1 - Vault 101

You’ll only be able to enter Vault 101 twice during the game: during the initial quests Growing Up and Escape! and during the side quest Trouble on the Homefront. Please refer to those quests for more information on the vault.

2 - Springvale

Please refer to our Springvale entry for more information on this location.

3 - Springvale Elementary School

For more information on the interior of the school, please refer to our Springvale Elementary School entry. Outside of the school, on the northern side, you’ll encounter some raiders, and you’ll also find some items useful to unarmed specialists: Brass Knuckles, Spiked Knuckles, and a Hockey Mask.

4 - Megaton

Please refer to our Megaton entry for more information on this location.

5 - Fort Independence

6 - Fairfax Ruins

7 - Nuka-Cola Plant

Please refer to our Nuka-Cola Plant entry for more information on this location.

8 - Andale

9 - The Overlook Drive-In

10 - Cliffside Cavern

11 - RobCo Facility

The RobCo Facility is involved in the Chapter 3 Old Technology Task in the Wasteland Survival Guide quest. Please see the relevant quest entry for more information on the location.

12 - VAPL-84 Power Station

Next to the power station you’ll find a wrecked truck containing three ammunition boxes and a Mini Nuke (in the garbage pile in the back).

13 - Tenpenny Tower

Tenpenny Tower is involved in the side quest Tenpenny Tower. Please refer to that quest entry for more information on the location.

You can also visit some minor landmarks near Tenpenny Tower. In the ruined building to the southeast, you can pick up a copy of Tumblers Today (on the second floor in a shelf next to a skeleton). From Willy’s Grocer to the east you can pick up a copy of Tales of a Junktown Jerky Vendor (on the counter next to the cash register). And in a ruined house to the west, you can pick up a copy of Duck and Cover (in a shelf with some ruined books).

14 - Warrington Trainyard

Warrington Trainyard is involved in the side quest Tenpenny Tower. Please refer to that quest entry for more information on the location.

If you explore the compartments near the trainyard, then you’ll find some first aid boxes, some ammunition boxes, some meds, and a Sniper Rifle.

15 - Dunwich Building

Please refer to our Dunwich Building entry for more information on this location.

16 - F. Scott Key Trail & Campground

If you search the picnic tables here you’ll find a first aid box and a copy of Duck and Cover. Inside one of the campers you’ll also find a bed that you can sleep on, plus Schematics - Deathclaw Gauntlet.

17 - VAPL-66 Power Station

Inside the power station you’ll find some drugs, a copy of Dean’s Electronics, and a Mini Nuke (on the floor).

18 - Jocko’s Pop & Gas Stop

Inside this small shop you’ll find a bottle of Nuka-Cola Quantum, a copy of Nikola Tesla and You, Schematics - Bottlecap Mine, and a workbench.

19 - Girdershade

Girdershade is involved in the side quest The Nuka-Cola Challenge. Please refer to that quest entry for more information.

20 - Smith Casey’s Garage

Smith Casey’s Garage is a small shop that hides the entrance to Vault 112. See the quest entry for Scientific Pursuits to learn more about the two locations.

21 - Evergreen Mills

Please refer to the Evergreen Mills location entry for more information.

22 - Yao Guai Tunnels

Please refer to the Yao Guai Tunnels location entry for more information.

23 - Charnel House

You’ll find some raiders camped out here. They’ll have some ammo boxes and a copy of Duck and Cover (both on the upper floor of the house) but that’s about it.

24 - Fort Bannister

25 - Rockopolis

Rockopolis was once a bustling underground city, but you won’t find much there now -- just a slaver’s note, the corpse of a ghoul named Argyle, and the Bobblehead - Unarmed doll. Herbert “Daring” Dashwood (in Tenpenny Tower) will give you a reward if you tell him what happened to Argyle.

Note: Rockopolis won’t show up on the world map, but if you start in Girdershade (#19) and then head north, you’ll run into it. If you have trouble finding the entrance, then get to about the right spot and check your local map.

26 - Broadcast Tower

If you flip the electrical switch at the tower, then you’ll begin picking up signal Papa November on your radio, which will lead you to a drainage chamber to the northeast. Inside the chamber you’ll find a Pre-War Book and a copy of Pugilism Illustrated.

Note: This location won’t show up on your world map.

Metro Stations

A - Jury Street Metro Station

B - Warrington Station

The main entrance to Warrington Station will start out locked. To get inside, you’ll have to explore the Warrington Tunnels (#14) and then take the Warrington Station exit from there. Warrington Station and the Warrington Tunnels are both involved in the side quest Tenpenny Tower. Please refer to that quest entry for more information on the two locations.

To the southwest of Warrington Station, you’ll discover a shop named Lucky’s. Inside you’ll find a copy of Pugilism Illustrated (in the counter), a bottle of Nuka-Cola Quantum, a safe / terminal combination, and lots of items necessary for schematics. You should also meet a scavenger inside, but he probably won’t have much to sell.
