Mardaneus Plaza

Did we miss anything in this section? Is there something we didn't discover? Let us know!

Overview

Mardaneus Plaza is the district accessed from the southern end of the Great Market (#GM) and once you've completed a part of the main quest, you'll be able to access the Crow's Nest to the east (#CN). Besides that, there's a waypoint shrine (#W) in the southern part.

1 - Halliwell

As you transition between the Great Market and Mardaneus Plaza, you'll bump into Halliwell, one of the champions who doesn't appear as a normal guard. Behrlihn will mention that he's important, but your short meeting will end right there as he'll leave.

2 - Elevator

Use this elevator to travel between plaza and the market (until you get the waypoint shrines, which is a bit more efficient).

3 - Peter

Peter is the healer in charge of the wounded soldiers from the plaza. He gives the quest First Aid.

4 - Abandoned Cave

This cave is very similar to the abandoned catacomb in the great market, in a way that it isn't really connected to any quest and can be used to gather a bunch of experience as it's filled with weak skeletons, ghosts and zombies. It's a bit longer than the catacombs, but still very easy to navigate. Once you reach the first campfire, just climb the top ledge to find an "abandoned" key that opens a chest nearby on the same ledge. You'll also find a lot of red ore veins scattered on the walls. At the end of the last two corridors you'll find chests with divine charms.

5 - Casca

You'll witness Casca sending a man to death beyond the barricade. Talk to him and you'll learn that the large tree appears to be talking, but no one can understand him. If you talk to the tree yourself, you'll get the quest Bark Up the Right Tree.

Also, you may want to mindread him to gain his part of the quest Mind over Matter.

6 - Darvesh

Darvesh, while he may be just a beggar, is indirectly involved in two quests. You can talk to him about the food thieves for the quest An Appetite for Murder.

If you mindread him, you'll learn how to gain access to Gula's storage. This is needed for the quest Everybody's a Critic.

7 - Gula's Archaeological Site

This cave is the place where you'll find potions needed for the quest Herbal Medicine.

8 - The Circle of Trust Inn

In this inn, you'll meet a talking carrot (Gardner) on one of the cupboards that's correlated to the quest Seahorse Salad. Besides that, there are several people worth talking to on the ground floor. You could start off with Balbus. Just by mindreading him you can acquire his (Order of the Viper) chestpiece. YOu could also pick up the quest from him called A Hunting We Shall Go Once More.

The upper floor will be inaccessible even if you mindread the guard (Byron) if you do not have the counter-spell scroll from the library. You can gain that during the main quest while exploring the Prancing Seahorse in Lanilor Lane.

The lower floor has a few more quests available. If you mindread both of the characters (Messalina and Dr.West), you'll get their parts for the quest Mind over Matter. Messalina gives a side quest called Old Dogs or New Tricks?. Dr. West can help you out with your creature, in case you want to use his necromantic services.

9 - Nericon

Nericon gives is guarding the entrance to Crow's Nest and will only let you pass once you talk to him by solving the quest Bark Up the Right Tree.

After that, he'll give you another side quest called Nericon's Wrath, which involves dealing with the undead.
