I honestly don't remember how I got past it, but I did have that same issue. Even after the council gave the the order to go investigate, my journal still says I'm grounded and I couldn't go anywhere.
Try talking to Carth and Bastila. You may need to have a conversation with them before you're ...

Battle Meditation
My wife was asking me about this one, so I thought I'd see what the group thinks.
Regarding Bastila's Battle Mediation power that is a rare deal among Jedi.
Back when Timothy Zahn wrote the first post ROTJ books, there was the notion that the Rebellion won the Battle of Endor becuase the Emperor ...

Does KOTOR dilute the Star Wars Legend?
Reading the thread asking about Darth Vader being a sith lead me to a path of thought and I'd like to hear what the group has to offer.
We all know that KOTOR is set 4000 years prior to the events of the movies to give it a strong separation to effectively eliminate issues of characters and history ...

Yes, it looks like I need to get myself into the habit of physically clicking on each item in the new list to clear it. It would have made more sense to have it be flagged as not new after just switching to the new items filter.
But, I did go through and click on all the items that were showing as ...

When do Items stop being "new"
Question about inventory.
When I find new items, I'll often go to the inventory to read up on them since the simple listing you get when picking off a body or a chest doesn't offer much.
I'm finding that if I go to the "show new items" filter, it still shows a long list of items with their purple ...

Just and old habit. I learned early on when I played RPG's more regularly (around 1988-1993) to save often.
With KOTOR, it is about as easy to create a new save as to reuse the latest one, so I ended up with quite a few. Got to be a pain to scroll all the way down to load up the current game, so I ...

Took me a while to get past that one as well. I kept talking to my partners, especially Mission, to find a suggestion as to what would be lethal for the Rancor and I kept wandering around the sewers looking for some kind of poison.
I finally had to break down and check the walk through to get past ...

Deleting old saved games
I tend to save often and, particularly being my first time through, I find myself with a lot of old saved games from Taris that I now what to delete.
I see that each saved game has it's own directory. Is it going to cause a problem if I just delete those directorries in Explorer vs. going through ...

For those that haven't finished with Taris and left the planet, you'll want to avoid this post as it is a spoiler

Thanks for the info on FRAPS, I'll have to check that out. For now, I was able to get a screen caputer using the print screen, paste into Paint trick. I did a quick edit in Photoshop to highlight the area. This time it's fairly minor. It's not consistent in its appearance (it almost seems like a ...

DX8 vs. DX9 Card
I've been playing KOTOR with a Radeon 8500 64MB card (inherited from my brother). The game looks pretty good and seems to play smoothly enough. I was wondering if upgrading to a DX9 video card like a Radeon 9700/9800 Pro is going to make the game look better.
With the 8500, I'm getting some kind ...

off hand?
I've started playing KOTOR and I'd forgotten how much I missed RPGs. However, it's been a long time since I've played one (I think Betrayal at Krondor is my most recent and that's got to be close to 8 years ago).
Anyway, I see references to the "off-hand" in regards to two-weapon fighting. I've ...
