I think warriors have better multiclass possibilites than 1 level of sorcerer. But it is a bit offtopic as neither can be called the "most powerful spellcaster".

Generally spellcasters shouldn't be multiclassed, because they receive their best spells in the end. But 1-2 level of some "front loaded" classes can still worth it.
Paladin gives stable starting class and also adds a CHA bonus to saving throws with divine grace which combines especially for the ...

In NWN (and in fact in 3E) Clerics also rock, not a support class at all (even though can be used to heal). It is hard to tell which one is the best, especially if we consider the possibilites of multi-classing and feat choices.
The best all-around caster is probably a Paladin/Sorcerer (1/x) or a ...

The drawback of the Sorcerers (compared to 3E) is that they can't cast lower level spells in higher level slots and there is no Heighten Spell feat. Another problem is that the spell system is quite structured: spells won't level up well, instead there are multiple spells of the same type at ...

The cat is slow and the rabbit is fast. :)
I have never really used (choose) other familiar.
In ToB familiars have 48hp and all (most) of them have advance with its abilities. Pure rabbit looses its elemental resistances :( (

@UserUnfriendly
There can be much more "depth" in these low level spell duels than just firing those invocation spells. For Magic Missile there is Shield for Fire arrows there is Mirror Image, Protection from Fire or Minor Globe of Invulnerability. A (specialist) mage can be more versatile in this ...

At low levels the sorcerer are not tahat powerful as they have problems keeping a balanced set of spells. A 10th level specialist is usually stronger (and can beat) the 10th level sorcerer (if the specialist knows what lies ahead). And the 10th level wild mage is probably the weakest of all (the ...

At early levels the chance of success is low even with Chaos Shield. But at xp cap, with Improved Chaos Shield you get more than 50% of success.

Wisdom is only important for dialogs - especially for Wish/Limited)Wish. Dexterity has some importance for mages/sorcerers (AC, ranged attack modifier), but not a necessity (Mirror Image, Stoneskin, Protection from xxx weapon, Mislead, etc.) and there is also the Gauntlet of Dexterity.

Normal fighting duels can be tested. But it is hard to test fighting duels with high level/special abilities (need some scripts).
And there is no way to try out real magical duels (the game engine doesn't support it). Testing magically enhanced fighting duels can be tried out, but actually it soon ...

Yes, that is an important advantage of the sorcerer over normal/specialist mages. But with 8-9 slots/level (Edwin) the Simulacrum/Project image is already versatile enough. And the most versatile is the Simulacrum of the wild mage. ;)

I think a well played sorcerer or wild mage can be more powerful. Try to solo Improved ToB battles and Ascension with "Edwin".

They work as a normal mage with the following differences:
- there 5% chance that any casting (including any innates!) result in a "wild surge"
- wild surge is a random effect (see the wild surge table) made a roll (1-100); the higher effects are usually beneficial, rolls >= 100 mean normal casting ...

I think it is possible to play through a no-death/no-reload solo wild mage. :)

@DaJir
It is possible to have "unlimited" spells, but without the multiple clone cheese you can't "cast" them fast enough. Try Improved Abazigal or Ascension with a solo Sorcerer.

A well played wild mage rarely gets a bad surge and could avoid all insta-death and counter most problematic effects.

Have you ever checked my suggestions? On a second thought...I'm not sure I have posted it on this forum. Anyway, you need some 10 casting to succeed, so it is more a reload cheese than a weak AI cheese...
