I've noticed that the music usually starts soon after entering an area, then dies away only to start once more a few minutes later. At least that is how it is in Amkethran in ToB. Man, I LOVE the background music in that place. I sat if front of the screen with the game on pause for half an hour ...

In the Wild Surge area of WK, I (obviously) got a wild surge while casting a timestop, and the target changed from Edwin to Sarevok. Man, Greater Whirlwind + Vorpal Sword + Timestop + Sarevok = Armageddon. Every enemy in the room was utterly obliterated. I've never seen so many chunks flying around ...

Don't send summoned monsters in to the trap. I had Edwin send an ogre berserker into it, and when it died, so did Edwin, and he was back with my party. I tested this several times with the same results. Apparently, elementals work fine, however.

But halberds are infinately more slow than, say, a long sword. If there was a fight between two equally armored and skilled opponents, the one wielding the sword, or katana would most likely come out on top.

A good thought, but unfortunatley it won't work, as a thief can only backstab with "thief-only" weapons. Since the Staff of the Magi is only for mages, you can't backstab with it, even though you may still use it with the "Use Any Item" ability.

In ToB, my entire party had Boots of Speed, well, except me, I had the Grandmaster's Armor, which is pretty much the same thing.

Recently I've developed a distaste for clerics. I don't know why, but the plate-mail wearing, mace wielding old preacher doesn't sound very "epic" to me. I figure, if I want healing, I got Planetars and potions.

Getting back on topic, the ultimate evil party mentioned in the first post happens to be exactly the party that I currently have, right down to the assassin PC, and I must say, its certainly a blast. :)

Oh, and the real ultimate anti-dragon weapon is:

Sarevok + Vorpal Sword + Greater Whirlwind

I was one of the fortunate ones who started with BG and progressed to ToSC, then onto SoA and finally to ToB, and as such I can truly appreciate the improvements shown over the course of the series. After playing BGII, however, I can safely say that it is VERY difficult to return to the original. It ...

Thanks. I take it that I should also bring along the uber-items from SoA as well? Blackrazor, SotM, Crom Faeyr, etc.

What items to bring into ToB?

I am about to leave Amn for the last time to face Irenicus, and was wondering what items can be upgraded or are otherwise useful in ToB. I have many weapons stored in the CC, but would like to take only the best with me into the expansion. Any help would be greatly apppreciated.

I read the first three Dragonlance books with high expectations, as everyone I knew praised the series greatly. When I finished all three books, however, I realized that they were some pretty less-than-standard works. This is just my opinion, but the writing seemed very shallow, and the character ...

Heh heh, you could make a party of six wizard slayer/mages. Basically, they'd be a group of adventurers that hate themselves and everyone they travel with. You could use SK to make them gnomes or half-orcs, for even more tragic hilarity.

Actually I think it would be more effective if you had a party of all spellcasters, not just mages. I'm thinking:

Mage (generalist)
Cleric (healing, plus some combat ability)
Druid (healing, and great druid-only spells)
Sorceror (offensive demon)
Conjuror (another 'generalist', more spells ...

Ah, but halflings are not completely without use during a time of war. A siege, for example. Let us say that the invading army has surrounded a massive walled city, yet can do nothing to penetrate the final barriers standing in the way of toal conquest. It would take months to starve the city, and ...

Well, if by "lively" you mean a conversation that has been dead for a month, then I heartily agree, but seeing as how that is not the case, I'll stand fast in my bumpish ways.

And another thing, *Bump* :D
