Unless you're playing a modded game the majority of bastard swords you'll find will be cursed.

Are these NPCs any good? Is Auren romancable by a player created non-protagonist?

Unless Theacefes had made some drastic changes to Auren in the past few weeks, she will only romance Nalia.

V6 of the Banter Pack has been around for a while now and I've never had any problems with it.

But then, what hammers do people really use other than Crom or Axes other than AoE at high-levels. I'd say that the Short Sword of the Mask +5 is a fine enough weapon for a character that is best suited for ranged combat anyway.

Eh, Halberds? That sounds weird to me.

Not really. Equipping Mazzy with a two-handed weapon, like halberds, makes sense if you also plan to have her using a bow. I really hate switching between ranged weapons and dual wielding, so I always give Mazzy halberds.

For Valygar I'd go

Main-hand: Celestial Fury +3 or Hindo's Doom +4
Off-Hand: Belm +2 or Dagger of Stars +5

I wouldn't bother using him as a sniper, his mani role should be as scout/backstabber. If you find you are using him more as an archer, you'd probably be better off with Mazzy.

Well that depends entirely on your perspective as tastes in fun/humour are highly individual. Personally I find Minsc about as fun as toothache, and would happily take almost any of the female NPC's over him ...

Well 1 to 4 are definietly alive and kicking, I'm not sure about 5.

You might also want to check Chosen of Mystra, RPG Dungeon and Sorcerer's Place.

You will also need to make sure that you read all readmes carefully, as some mods WILL conflict e.g. G3 Fixpack will conflict with the restored dialogue component of UB.
