What exactly is included in "beasts"?

When a weapon or talent provides a bonus against “beasts”- do we know what’s included in that? I wonder if that’s just animals like bears and wolves or if that’s anything non-humanoid. For instance would dragons or darkspawn be included?

Thanks!

Thanks!

Thanks for the help Mz_Trixter. I initially found strolling around the countryside to be near suicidal but now that I'm into the quests and a little more acclimated things are going fine again. Having a few establed fast-travel markers on the map helps too. I'm still amazed at how ...

Stealth-based character in Shivering Isles?

Hi all.

I'm just starting Shivering Isles and was hoping to get some thoughts on whether a stealth-based archer character is strong enough for the combat in this new land. She's level 23 and did the thieves guild and dark brotherhood quests. I've noted that there seems to be a lot more combat to ...

A lot of guides (the official guidebook included) suggest taking the Mage birthsign even for warrior characters for that exact reason. They also point out that birthsigns that add to attributes are not helpful in the later game because you'll eventually max attributes at 100 anyway.

For example ...

Okay, so this worked as advertsied... but with a catch. I followed Faberge's tip of hitting ESC and saving rather than selecting "done" and that did work. It avoids the reseting of all your skills back to their new beginning of game default values but that means that the +20 bonus in your major ...

Well that sounds promising! Does this avoid the problem I read about in some posts where the console resets all your skills to their new beginning start values without any of the progress you've made increasing them throughout the game?

Thanks,

From a design perspective, I had assumed that they did this to allow the game to be more open-ended. That is, if the challenge doesn't auto-level with the player character than the designers would have to know what level the player is likely to be when they reach a certain area. But, in theory, if ...

using the console to change major/minor skills

I think I’ve made a very novice mistake in the major/minor skill selection for my character. My character is a warrior-type that selected both light and heavy armor and both blade and blunt as major skills. I’m not sure what I was thinking at the time but I’ve barely touched blunt and rarely use ...

Yeah, no doubt. It's a rule that I tend to forget about though since it works so differently than the D&D rules that I'm used too.

Its not just that you have to rest is it? You only level up when you sleep in a bed (one hour will do). After all that fighting you could use a rest anyway.

Yeah, I uninstalled and reinstalled about 5 or 6 times. That's how I determined that the game will ONLY run at the end of installation when you get the "do you want to run TOEE now?" prompt. That's what I think is strange- why would it run fine at the end of install but then never again without re ...

crash on running

Are there any known issues running TOEE in Windows XP Media Edition 2005? The game runs fine on my laptop using XP Professional (SP2) but has issues on my brand-new desktop.

It runs fine at the end of installation at the "do you want to run TOEE now?". But if you select the game from the start menu ...

Another party advice question

After finally finishing my tour of Bioware’s D&D games (BG, BG2, IWD & IWD2) you’d think I’d need a break, right? Nope, I’m diving right into TOEE instead. I’m hoping to experiment with some character classes that I haven’t used yet but do you think they have enough muscle?

1. Human or Dwarf tank ...

sling bullets

Hello. Does anyone know if the problem of not being able to buy replacement sling bullets still exists in the current patched (or Co8 modded) version? If so, is it true of crossbow bolts as well?

I'm about to start the game and I've read about this problem in some older threads here. This could tip ...

That makes sense.

I started playing around with the beginning of the game today with different characters. I'm really impressed with the variation in the beginning sequence (before you get to Hommlet) depending on your party's alignment. Each one giving you a different reason for starting the ...

Hey, thanks for the reply. I'm definately not set on using bard 7. I used a bard through BG2 and pretty quickly gave up on the bard stuff and just used him as if he was a ftr/wiz. Identifying everything for free was pretty nice though.

I've never used a ftr/rogue before. What kind of ability scores ...

party spokesman role and bards

I’m curious about how people have constructed their party spokesman character. How high a charisma score does this character need? It seems like it would need to have some levels of rogue or bard to cover all the talking skills. I’m not planning to have a Paladin or Sorcerer in this party and ...

My party is right at the point where the next step is to go to the Coronation ceremony. So do you mean that I go to the ceremony and then just don't follow him into the thieves guild maze? Storywise that would make more sense than keeping the coronation ceremony on hold for a ...

Sounds like DaleKeeper2 to the rescue. If you search this forum or go to this "links" sticky you'll find the links for downloading it and instructions to use it. Its easy to use and you should be able to bring in one of your characters and add that item to your inventory.
