If I got you right

You need the key from the night table in the rightmost room (missed that myself) to unlock the room on the left. The hole in the floor is covered by some planks and you should get the normal bashing icon, so you can just "use" (by pressing e). No weapons needed.

Just finished the game for the first time with a mostly ranged char, I had no trouble at all with the fights. Would have had maybe with the bosses without celerity, but it seems like most of them are easier when you don't have to stand next to them ...

The weekapaug thistle is supposed to be on the second floor of the ocean house hotel, but I didn't find it the first time through and can't find it now... Is it that I'm blind, or is it actually somewhere else (another floor?) or you don't get it if you defence is too high?

I guess I need a ...
