I'll still use the weaker monster summoning spells to distract them... they at least give me some time to retreat, if need be, and they don't take too long to cast.

I have the latest SoA patch, and the Baldurdash fixes, and cloudkill doesn't often get through Mind Flayer magic resistance. Does the ...

@Promil: When I first took down the red dragon, I found that the dragonbane longsword wasn't hitting him often, and yet slings were! I'm not sure what was up with that. It does seem to me to be a waste of inventory space to carry around weapons that you can use only a few times in the game. Seems ...

@Chekara: I don't think anyone really enjoy's Anomen's personality. Anomen wants to do good deeds just so that he will be recognized; he doesn't really care about helping people, IMO. Rich boys like him in Faerun can't buy fancy cars, so they need something else to show off with. I'm still trying to ...

I don't have ToB, so no potion case. I don't use potions very often anyways, as I'm so stingy. I have this hoarding mentality, where I only use them if I feel it is absolutely necessary. So, I guess what fable was saying is that the effect of the potions can run out while the character is still ...

I was just wondering, has anyone tried dual-wielding Kachico's Wakizashi and Belm +2? I was thinking that the Belm +2 would give more attacks per round with the Wakizashi, and you could possibly kill someone through wisdom drain that way. I'm not sure how well this would work, as the enemy can save ...

Hmm... does anyone know for certain if the effects of Greater Malison stack or not? I'd really like to know the answer, as I've been using 2 in each of my triggers. I'm not sure how to test this, as it only affects enemies. Only thing I can think of is to deliberately allow one of my party members ...

Potion swap... CHEESE! :D

I think what Deadalready was saying is that spells used in a sequencer/trigger can have different casting times, but they will still fire off in the order that you set them to in the trigger. So you would always put your greater malison in there first, and the greater ...

Something I want to mention, regarding a post on the first page of this thread, about Viconia's "pathetic" strength. I believe that it would be more accurate to say "Viconia's strength, which is comparatively low to the powergaming stats that most NPCs have".

It has been nearly 15 years since I ...

I totally agree about Jaheira. I only kept her in my first run through of the game for role-playing reasons. She made a promise to Gorion to protect <charname>, and also her husband was murdered by Irenicus, so I felt that she should be allowed to share in the revenge. I absolutely hate her ...

Hmm... I'm not sure what exactly constitutes a "gaze attack". I guess that I figured that because beholders have all those eyes, that they would be using "gaze attacks." :D I thought that a basillisks petrify attack was from its gaze also. I'm not really sure though.

@Badseed: Hmm, I'm not sure ...

Sunfire doesn't damage the caster, so does the contingency still fire? I believe that the spell hits the caster, but that the caster is granted 100% fire immunity for that round, so that it won't hurt him. UserUnfriendly posted something about setting the chain contingency to fire when you are ...

I've started using Greater Malison + Greater Malison + Chaos/Emotion in a spell sequencer. Any monster that still makes its save after that, will have its throws lowered so that my other mages can cast some other nasty spell on them. Chromatic Orb now has a better chance to instakill the ones who ...

Yep, I don't use shields a lot, but Aerie has a sheild equipped all the time. Even so, I don't give her proficiencies in shield style, because as I said, it only helps vs. missile weapons. All of the enemies in SoA that I've seen using missile weapons weren't strong at all. Kuo-Toans, Drow, some ...

I think it's rewarding when you hit an enemy and they explode. :D It's also nice to kick the crap out of enemies that think that they can take you easily. I didn't feel too rewarded at the end of BG1 because I was on the run all the time from Sarevok, he most definitely was much tougher than my main ...

Yes, sorry about replying to an old thread. Was searching for something at the time, and replied to a thread that looked interesting. Too bad the date is written in such tiny text... I'll have to pay closer attention next time.

I have discovered a tasty exploit that makes the Illithid city a bit easier to conquer. I am not sure if this exploit is known already, but it's new to me. Anyways, here it is:

When you summon monsters from a mirror image, the 5 monster limit is bypassed, allowing you to summon as many monsters as ...

A throwable spear? That's a great idea! It does seem amazing that there is even a throwable hammer in SoA, but not a throwable spear, as spears have often been hurled throughout our own history.

I agree, there is some good spears and halberds in SoA. The impaler does massive impaling damage. As ...

"There is a 20% chance that the target must make a saving throw vs. death or die instantly". So a 20% chance to get the dice rolling, and pretty much anything that can last more than a couple of rounds against your party have good saves vs. death anyways. Somehow though, the Mace of Disruption and ...

HAHA, how true! Jan at least is funny, Haer'Dalis is just plain annoying. The way he talks, you'd think that he believes himself to be one of the characters he had portrayed during his acting career.

I've just been playing some SoA, and I have to admit, Minsc can get a bit annoying after a while ...

But without Minsc, then you won't have the mighty Boo to stare evil in the eyes, and then bite those eyes!

I don't have any problems with Minsc being a ranger and not a barbarian. Rangers uphold good, and prefer wilderness to cities. I see Minsc in this way. Remember, since becoming a ranger, he ...
