Have you ever tried a Slipstream version of Windows ? Make a slipstream CD to SP3 and install it ? Maybe the driver incompatibility solves itself with a clean SP3 install....A lot of longer running SP1 versions had problems with SP2 without a clean install....

Better way, go to Megaton, take the quest the shop owner gives you, go to the supermarket kill the raiders there and take all the grenades in the ammo boxes and on the shelves.

I wouldn't go with less then 2 GB RAM with Vista on a good day, with a memory intense game like VTM probably a bad idea...Also, wasn't there a problem with DirectX9 under Vista ( not preinstalled ) because it uses DirextX10 ?

An ATI X1650 Pro isn't the best graphic chip to try this game. It's on the low end of graphic cards anyway. I am pretty sure you wouldn't have a problem with the next higher card an ATI X1800 Pro or XL/XT.
It isn't much better then an X600 or Radeon 9600 Pro, just another generation of chip and more ...

How about contacting Steam for the version number...?

No idea how it works out on Win 98, haven't used it since forever...I would say it's the graphic card.

Do you have a DirectX 9 compatible Graphic chip ? Cause the white lines seem to be a graphic problem.

It might help if you could state your computer system here and what version of the game you have ( is it the CD/DVD version, downloaded through a game distributor site, patched ? )

Wait a day or two, usually the false positives are kicked out with another update of the virus definitions. Had a similar problem recently, took a day for Bitdefender to figure it out, now it's working properly again.

If you don't wanna wait, you could close the anti virus for the time being ...

You could try this tool...it's freeware and may help you. Otherwise I would take a look at local computer tech forums for other useable freeware.

Well....even though the game isn't considered canon to the PnP Vampire, Caine was in LA for a time shortly before Gehenna ( see the last Vampire novel ).
The sarcophagus on the other hand is a "McGuffin" as Alfred Hitchcock called a powerful or useful item around which the plot of a story evolves ...

....a little bit more information would have been nice as there are certain points in the game that are buggy and prone to crashes ( i.e. Society of Leopold Quest end ). What is the state of the game, do you play the Vanilla or 1.2 offical patch or any of the unofficial patches, mods and so on ...

Have you tried tessmage.com ? I think they got some mods there too.
