I find it to be strange however. IMHO I think it would be more logical to do something along the lines of when going from Sorcerer-> Wizard, you slowly gain more spells known to add into your Sorcerer spell list at the cost of less spells per day...More of a meshing of the two ...

Sorc/Wiz dual class

In my years of gaming, I have always had a tendency to come up with some of the most bizzare combinations and tactics. The other night I was thinking (painful as that is sometimes): What would happen if a Sorcerer wanted to take a couple levels as a Wizard? How would his spell progression go? What ...

That story is a clear case of the Wizard's First Rule. People will believe what you tell them because they want to believe what you say is true, or they are afraid what you say is true.
i plan on having a Chromatic dragon monk, aswell as a Metallic dragon monk, to balance the world, so i just wanted to know how to go about making it balanced thats all
In that case, you might want to consider having one of the gem dragons in the mix. I don't know if any ...

I have created an off-the-wall (but legal) half-dragon/stone giant monk. The type of the creature is switched from the base race (stone giant) to dragon. As a monk, due to his ECL, he received five feats at first level (real level). I don't remember all of them, but he did take weapon expertise ...

I haven't read Sandstorm yet, but I see no reason why a sand dragon shouldn't be as powerful as a gold dragon. Perhaps they developed as an offshoot of gold dragon stock. That would account for a lot of the power. As for a paladin's mount, horses aren't quite as capable in the desert as some animals ...

I would suggest checking the Monster Manual. It may have some suggestions. I'm not sure about the holy water thing, but it seems likely that it would have some effect on that type of creature. I also think that any type of spell or device from the positive material plane would affect the wraiths and ...

You might look into holy water, or other holy type weapons. Possibly something along the lines of a holy avenger sword, or mace. Of course, most of the traditionaly accepted methods of dealing with noncorporeal entities may be a bit different in Raven Loft.

Interesting way of calculating saving throws. But it does raise a question. Does a simple +1 (or whatever) item have a caster level? If so, how does one figure this out?

I would suggest finding a shop that sells the RPG you are interested in and ask them. They might even let you post a flyer letting people know you want to get a group together.

Finding someone to create it for you would be the hard part. It may end up costing considerably more than the DMG prices depending on where the campaign is taking place.

A while back I was involved in an adventure of first level characters. There were six of us in the beginning, six of us got killed, and there were six of us at the end. The odd part? We never did get to the adventure. The entire thing tool place on the ship we were sailing to the quest area. I was ...
The part I'm having trouble with, is the busy work inbetween. Minor side quests and such. Things will probabaly come together as I create more NPC's for them to interact with, but having an idea on what sort of side-quests could also give me an idea on what sort of NPC's to create ...

Keep in mind, Mr. Waesel, they were also using 1st ed rules. Things may have been different then. Also, Oskatat brings up a good point. A 1000HD monster, unles he is by some fluke very small, will be subjected to multiple attacks, whereas his thousand 1HD opponents will be subject to five at most ...

Many years ago, there was an article in the Dragon Magazine that asked the question, "What's more difficult, one 1000HD monster or a thousand 1HD monster?" The two people discussing it decided to find out. Oddly enough, it turned out to be a fairly even match. If it weren't for a bad decision by the ...

If I recall correctly, and it has been a while, there is one realm that is lorded over by a werewolf. Lycanthropes aren't technically undead. I don't remember which realm it is, but I'm sure there is one.

One idea to set the mood would be to start reading some of Poe's works. The Fall of the House of Usher would be a good one. I'll have to admit, I've never played the campaign either, but then good players are hard to find around my place. Good DM's are even harder.

That sounds like the same one. Yes...I think nasty is the word for it. Consider a paladin out to redeem a realm and bring it back to the light...so to speak. Perhaps the realm lord would like to enlist the characters to do some damage to his/her opponents in another realm, yes? Since the lords can't ...

Here's an interesting idea for a campaign...

A few years back, before 2ed reall got going, I acquired the boxed set of Ravenloft. This set details the many realms of the demi-plane of dread, also known as Ravenloft, that being the oldest of the realms and home of the arguably most powerful of the plane's inhabitants. The set also mentions ...
