I'll cover a few of the things I've discoevered playing with Mazzy in the party.
1: Since you asked about Mazzy's party interactions, I haven't had too many, but I understand she does have some interesting combinations with NPCs Aerie, Edwin, and Korgan. I've personally seen some interesting ...

Thanks, all. I'm afraid this is just going to be one of those unponderables. I did check the mannual and I have my entire party lined up, facing the wall where the secret door is. I'll try it for a couple of three "game" hours then reload. Maybe I need to open it before finishing Lassal off ...

Secret Door Problem(Possible Spoiler)

I'm having a little trouble in Bohdi's Lair in Chapter 3. I've done in all three of the "name" vampires and I'm in the banquet room looking for the secret door so I can get to the coffins and stake them. I,ve been standing in front of where I know it is, but even after detecting traps with Nalia for ...

To clarify some of what Stilgar said, most items that have a specific use (like the aforementioned Gall's Key) can be chucked once you have used them. If you are uncertain that you have used an item, then you can "place" it in any container virtually anywhere in the game world and it will be there ...

@BlackBreeze: Glad to help. I wouldn't suggest using Dispel Magic to remove magical defenses except in a case of dire emergency/despiration. As Kovi noted, the effectiveness of DM is based on a level to level comparisson and, even when levels are equal, its only a 50-50 shot. Kovi gives some good ...

Welcome aboard. As a longtime RPGer and not so long time BG2er (is that a word?), here's what I can suggest.
1: Every spell has a casting time, most of them expressed in terms of a number between 1 and 9. The smaller the number, the faster the spell will get off. Therefore, when trying to disrupt ...

Thanks All! No real hurry, Buck. I was just hoping someones "organic" search engine would kick in. I have to create a Business Presentation for speech and I'm thinking about pitching a MMORPG :D

How To Find Old News Topics

Is there an archive for old news topics? I seem to remember a link for an upcoming seafaring MMORPG recently on the Home/News Page, but I can't find anything in general searches that matches. I think it was about two months or so ago. Thanks in advance.

Umm..there's not a list of jewels, but you can use the drpo-down on the left to go to the BG2 area, then click the link entitled "Cromwell's Forge" to find upgrades. You'll also want to hold on to one Rogue Stone to access a tough side quest. I won't spoil anymore than that.

Spears like bastard swords, lost something in pure power terms coming over from PnP. I think the biggest part of the problem is the limitation of the Infinity Engine. One problem is that spears could be wielded with either one or two hands. When wielded two-handed, it did far more damage. It could ...

Xyx: I am still bothered by that. There's little impetus to take proficiency in any weapon unless you plan to specialise that weapon. There should be at least a bit more of a penalty, even for fighters. Don't get me started on mages picking up an unfamiliar weapon and using it with a measely -1 ...

First, to the original question, I don't believe sword-and-shield style is worth placing slots in. Without it, you can still use a shield effectively; with it the only benefit is a SLIGHT improvement in your missile AC. Better to spread your proficiencies around in the weapons if you plan on making ...

Of course, who you take depends on the rest of your party. Nalia is a fine mage if you don't really need her thieving skills. If she is your only thief, then she becomes a bit more of a challenge since you can only use one ring on her at a time and the best way to boost Nalia's thief abilities are ...

I'll give this a try and see. One thing to remember is that two of the stated team members won't be joining you until later ( in the case of Sarevok, MUCH later ). So then, you'll have a slightly evolving party, assuming you pick up Keldorn fairly early in Chapter 2. Aerie, as has been mentioned ...

Thanks all for the responses.

@Stoner: Vic really shouldn't be anything more than a third-line tank. For one, with both Mazzy and Jaheira, I'll need the strength belts, gauntlets, fuzzy dice for them first. Second, Vic doesn't have many HP and that can make a real difference especially early on. I ...

john, concluder is correct. You want to go through the forrested path past the dryads. When you do, you'll enter another bedroom. First, you'll trip an alarm. Don't go too far in; let Imoen check for traps because there are several throughout the room. I believe the Portal Key is in the chest at the ...

Conundrum

I'm looking to take a second party through SOA. I want to take the following NPCs

Jahiera
Mazzy
Aerie
Viconia
Nalia ( to be replaced by Imoen )

My problem: with that group I'm short on tankage and thief abilities. I'm stuck between taking a PC Ranger or Multi T/F. The ranger would solve tankage ...

If you're hitting those Vampiric Mists in the Unseeing Eye quest, try walking on the East side of the circular room ONLY! Don't let one of your characters path-correct to the West side. For some reason, I believe the "trap" only fires if someone walks that way ...
