Thank you. I guess I missed that on my previous attempt when I was attacked by TWO pretty tough opponents. This time there was only one and I eventually succeeded and am now in Arindale.

Thanks for tghe help

Having difficulty getting to Arindale

I have completed all the (necessary) quests in Fargrove. I exited through the West gate and took the Arindale Road at the fork.

After several minutes I reach an Elven fort. They won't let me in, and the road to the North dead ends at a lake.

Clearly I have missed something--and would really ...

Ah that's it. I hadn't done the Augustus side quest (it was a bit tough). I hadn't realized that this sub quest must be finished first. Once I completed it, and returned to Paulus everything went as it should.

Thanks for the help.

I agree .. but

I cannot disagree with the previous posts. There was no real thought given to making Vet and Elite more interesting.

So what I decided was to zip up my game save folder and store it in a safe place. Then in a year or so, or whenever new games have no appeal, I can bring this out ...

Cheers!

Glad you found the problem! And, really glad it was one of the EASY solutions. While you are at it, you may want to update your OS to SP2.

DS2 -- low frame rate

With 1/2 gb ram you should be OK, but you may want to try quitting some of your running programs. (Virus checker, etc.)

As suggested, you may be trying to play the game with your settings too high. Try it at 800 x 600, as well as those suggested previously.

Your setup ...

Pet combat stats bug?

My pet started off with Min/Max damage rates of 144/240.
Each time it increased its development these stats increased also.
At present they are 158/263
However, if I feed it one more item the pet goes up one development level, but these stats drop to 79/132

Why on earth would the damage stats drop ...

Problem with update

Funny, I had a problem the first time I tried to install the update on my notebook. So, I did all the usual stuff.
1. Turn off computer for 10 seconds.
2. Run a full antivirus scan.
3. Run a couple of spyware scans.
4. Empty the recycle bin
5. Defrag Drive C: (game is saved ...

One of the testers LOVES rangers

To quote Jerry Prichard, a game tester wrote in the Official Strategy Guide: "I personally play a party of two or three rangers with one dabbling in Nature Magic for damage increasing buffs such as Wrath of the Bear. A group of Rangers with buffs can safely deal ...

This is a tough one

OK, I just finished off the ArchMage after several unsuccessful attempts. I think this strategy might also work at the advanced levels.

POSSIBLE SPOILER FOLLOWS:
======================

My group consisted of two melee characters plus a melee dire wolf, and Deru the Archer. I ...

I play on widescreen!

I play DS II on an Alienware 7700 with a 17" widescreen, resolution 1280x1024 and it fills the screen and looks great!

Not sure if this helps, but I also have a Dell wide screen that reverts to a standard 4:3 format for almost all resolutions--and Dell says this is ...

You need to find the hidden room to use key

This hidden room is in the dungeon where you place all the colored stones to open up new areas. Inside the hidden room you will see a lock that can be opened by the dusty key. That leads to a room that requires four purple blocks, which opens a room ...

Good use for summoned teleporter

I found only two good uses for a summoned teleporter.

1. A quick way back to town after completing a quest. (Saves retracing steps.) and,

2. To unload the loot if my characters are getting overloaded. Then to return to the same location to continue the adventure ...

The better the stuff..the better the growth!

Try this:

Check out the level of your pet then feed him a small health potion; even four or five, and you won't see the bar move. Then feed him a pretty nice piece of armor and if you watch carefully you will see the bar move up a little.

Conclusion ...

I found him!

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried the two closest teleporters, without success. So I scoured everywhere in the area and found him deep down at the end of a dungeon. I suspect I either logged out while I was in a dungeon, or perhaps used the teleport spell.

Lesson learned: Be very ...

Missing Squadron quest - dumb problem!

I found Nolan before I realized what this quest was about, and somehow I lost him. I've since delivered the other two guys to Taarth. I have searched everywhere but can't find Nolan anywhere.

Any suggestions would be welcomed. Thanks,
