I have a celeron400 with a Nvidia MX400 graphics card (the old geforce2 version) and the game runs smoothly so I don't think your machine is the problem.

Why can't I equip the bastard sword?

According to the manual (and according to 3e rules) the bastard sword is a martial weapon that can be used in one hand if you have the exotic weapon proficiency or with two hands if you have the martial weapon proficiency.

My fighter obviously have the martial weapon proficiency but still can't ...

What really sucks though is that we allways have to wait for all these translations (german / french) and still get the UK version. WTF is up with that? I don't mind getting the UK version but since there's no translation here it buggs me enormously that I still have to wait.

UK version should be ...

I think you answered yourself:

"If someone uses all of his strength in a blow he´s usually less accurate than if he controls his swing."

Ie a str18 character only needs to use half his str to do the same thing as a str9 character (assuming str to be linear wich it's not but...) and can thus be ...

I think it's the other way around, you can double move (hustle) out of threatened area but not with a single move.

"However, since all you do is move when you take a double move action is to move, the space where you begin your move is not considered threatened"

That sounds to me that you can move ...

I haven't played 2nd ed since the eighties so I don't really know if it's the same spell.

In 3rd ed the spell description say:

"You project your astral self into the Astral plane, leaving your physical body behind on the Material plane in a state of suspended animation. The spell projects an ...

Astral projection = infinite loot?

I can't figure this spell out, PHB says it creates a copy of your body & equipment when you step out on another plane.

So what happens if you drop something? Does it dissapear? Can you pick up something nad bring it back home?

I have not seen any mentioning of items dissapearing but if they don't ...

Actually you do not provoke an AoO if all you do is move and you move out of a threatened area. That is, you can allways retreat without provoking AoOs, unless of course you retreat into another threatened area.

See the "Double move" paragraph on page 126 (PHB).

I must say I'm having lot's of ...

I don't know why it would effetct spells but I do get casting failure everytime now, I can't think of a way to dispel this. The temples won't(?) cast dispel magic and there's no item that I know of that cast's DM except weapons and I can't hit myself.

I'll just go back to an earlier save. :-(

I'm deaf!

Somehow my character became deaf fighting the pitfiend party in WK, I tried having my Deva cast remove curse but it didn't help and now I can't cast any spells. I slept a few times but I'm still deaf - what gives?

The responsibility for this act lies only with it's perpetrators but still one can hope that future US governments learn something from this and never again bankrolls and trains people like Saddam and Bin Laden.

You will get the ToB benefits very early if you solo, 3.000.000 XP is easily attainable in chapter 2. In fact, my Druid is 6.000.000+ and still in chapter2 (WK).

There's nothing in the game (to my knowledge) that a thief is needed for but they could be fun to play.

I now play a solo Druid and I deal with traps by simply soaking up the damage. Greater Werewolf + draw upon holy might gives 25 Str so I just break the locks.

I can confirm that (at least) the earth elemental prince does indeed dispel magic on every damage dealing attack. I had not noticed this before. I don't think he ever takes more than 1 (2 for crit) damage/hit, just keep pounding. My solodruid killed him with energyblades while the sim summoned ~15 fire elementals to keep him busy.
