Re: My name is Minerva, and I am 112 years old

Some old names indeed.

Has fable returned, as the prophecy foretold?

A research project on gaming and problem solving skills

Hey SYMians, I know it's been a long time, but I'm back and I have a small favour to ask.

I'm a graduate student at the London School of Economics doing research into leadership development. Part of my work is based on the importance in general problem solving skills as a function of a leaders role ...

Lemmus makes some really interesting points about the psychology behind gaming.

A related point is the sense of self-actualization. It relates back to Maslow's hierarchy of needs, the most basic of which are survival based, like food and shelter, but the most complex is the need for self worth. In ...

I confess a more than passing interest about whatever happened to some of the main presences here on the GB forums. Fable in particular, whatever happened to him? Surely someone knows.

For myself, I suspect it is a common story. I joined for a love of BG2 and quickly was captivated by the exciting ...

Hey DW, nice to see a familiar face again.

Thanks for your concern and interest.

As for London, it's hard to say. We've only been here since September, and things seem fairly quiet. My partner works at one of those law offices that is usually an 80 hour week, but recently has been around 50, which ...

Sorry for necroing but I just noticed Obsidian hasn't posted since 2009

what happened to him?

Well, I just logged back in today actually.

So, you know, I do exist.

Strange to see the idle musing of my broken heart so high up on the forum board.

Update from my last post, I did actually ...

So, first off sweet game. So no complaints.

But a friend of mine seems to think that I should have the Stone Prisoner automatically.

I pre-ordered the game through steam, and have neither wardens keep or shale. Should I have these?

Thanks.

I'm also a little disapointed with rogues in this game. Compared to mage and warriors, they don't offer a whole lot. Other than opening chests, but lets face it, there isn't much of real value in most chests.

I'm rolling with a dual wielding warrior, axe and dagger, alister, wynne and morrigan. I ...

Penny Arcade has discussed this phenomenom a little as well,

Penny Arcade - A Truly Fascinating Phenomenon

and have an interesting take on it. To quote Tycho,

"I spent much of the weekend thinking about the in-game sales force Bioware leveraged in Dragon Age, mostly while playing Dragon Age ...

I always knew there was a reason I stuck around this site for so long.

Thanks for the excellent advice everyone, you all really helped me through a rough patch. I appreciate it.

The insights about missing a close friend and confidant were really useful, I never considered it. The person who I ...

So as some of you may recall, I went through a pretty unpleasant break up a few months ago.

Subsequently, I've moved to a new city, new job, new adventures. I've kept active, training for a marathon, still working with the army, yoga, new friends etc.

I've even had a few dates and some more than ...

It would be interesting if the GOP ran her as a candidate.

She certainly was a "polarizing" figure in the election. Some people really love her. However, many conservatives fear her and all she represents.

Her nomination could drive a wedge between red and blue conservatives. The highly educated ...

So she must mean habit in the sense of extreme predictability. Which may well be a matter of her expectations, or what she was led to think things were going to be like--perhaps by friends, or television, or romance novels.

Quite possibly, I was the first real relationship she was in and ...

I query the benefit of writing this on an internet forum to strangers...

well, not really strangers, people who I've tangentially known for 8 years through their online avatars.

Regardless, thank you and at the very least it makes me feel somewhat better.

Worst Break up ever!

So, today I drove an hour and a half to pick up my girlfriend where she was completing some requirements for first year medicine. She spent two weeks there.

From the moment I picked her up from her aunt and uncles I knew something was wrong...

but anyways, I put all of her stuff from two weeks in ...
