Did you truly finish the quest? If you did finish it, that Half-Giant that stole the (cloak?) should be standing right next to him. If that didn't happen, you are not done.

If there is a switch, there would be a little blue bar on your mini-map. If you don't see one near you, then there's no way to get in there.

I am fond of the two-handed Melee combat fighters to get out the most amount of damage possible. The special power that fires out a wave of damage is a great offensive weapon, just clears the room out pretty quick.

So you must have been level 41 at the time. They will auto-upgrade to 2 levels below your main character when you are 20+ levels ...

Yeah, summons don't count towards your party. It's just a temporary addition to your team until the timer runs out or they get defeated.

That's the cool thing about Dungeon Siege. You can have a party of 4 magic users (Nature or Combat) and have 4 summons and it's like walking around with a party ...

I find pets just as good as NPCs. I've already beaten the story on all 3 levels of difficulty mostly using NPCs and some pets (where necessary when a NPC isn't the same level as me and I need to be 20 levels higher).

Now I am going solo with a variety of pets - Currently using a Dire Wolf, Scorpion ...

Here's what I did to find and kill the "???" Creature:

Grab all the Rare items that are in green and carry them around with you. The ??? Creature wants to steal them off you when you aren't looking so try to sucker him in that way.

If you choose a human as your race, you do get a 10% bonus to finding magic items right off the bat. Humans can be made to be any class but they won't be as powerful as a race specifically designed for that class (i.e. A Half-Giant may start with 4 strength and a Human will start at 3 strength ...
