Well firstly i think edwins amulet or just his character is why he gets all those spells i mean he travels alot and gets to know people (shadow thieves) so his availability to magical tomes would be preety high (it only takes one skilled thief to break in to candlekeep and stel a few books)

I thin you ind the romance variable with SK and change it to 2 you may also need to find viconia specific romance global variables or you will have all three chicks hitting on you if you have them in your party. I dont know the viconia romance specifics as aerie and jaheira are just my kinds of gals ...

I think the gods were made mortal because Bane or Myrkyl stole some tablets from Ao and he got pissed off. thats why he made them all mortal to teach the gods a lesson and on thier mortal voyages heaps of them got killed like mystra and cyric was made a god.
