this happens alot when converting characters from DS2 over to BW.

HalfGiant should be the best melee, they have the most strength to start with, also have fast recovery... Dwarf would be 2nd with melee cause of strength, however ya have to be careful what use use as spells... and then Human with magic find, those are the only 3 worth trying melee on.
as for magic ...

for races the Dryad starts with the most dexterity 14, so she should be the best with ranged weapons... then human and elf both have 11 dex, but human have more strength and magic find, so they maybe better than elf at range, half giants have least dexterity so wouldnt try them.

as for skills just ...

yes Eva and Vix have the 10% magic find as well but its their own 10%, it dont add to your human main characters 10%
Eva -10%
Vix - 10%
self made human character -10%

now add some magic find rings and the number goes up, so technically vix and eva are the best magic finding mercs in the game, so ...

i would suggest getting the Deluxe Edition of DS II that way ya get both games plus the nice extra stuff and amazingly its price is as cheap as BW by itself.

load the game but instead of loading the game using your character, goto single player button and select your character that way, using the dungeonsiege II map, then pick veteran and ya should be on your way..
