Glad you like it! My build is as follows:

Drow Fighter 8 / Wizard 22 (I used a mule and some level squatting to get to level 30 in normal mode, then ditched the mule for HoF mode)

Leveling was something like Wizard, Fighter (proficiencies, feat), W, W (mirror image!), F, F, F (specialization ...

Do specialists get +1 to the Difficulty Class of their school spells, or is that just my imagination? If so so, that might give added incentive to have 2 specialists (Evokers, Necromancers, and Enchanters all have good school spells that benefit from high DC).

Shortest amount of game time to beat IWD2?

I'm just curious, as I don't pay attention to game time at all. What's the shortest amount of game time someone has taken to beat this game?

I imagine something under 20 days?

1) Specialist mages' spells aren't harder to save against, neither in IWD nor BG nor any other IE game.
ToEE is the only crpg I remember doing this.

2) The extra spell per level is the only advantadge.

3)There's nothing similar to IWD2 difficulty classes in IWD. The difficulty to save vs spells ...

Solo Fun - Acts of Desperation!

I'm playing with my solo Drow Fighter 8 / Wizard 22 through Heart of Fury mode, and it's been a real blast (of the delayed fireball variety, of course :) . Normal mode with this solo guy was tough at the beginning but quickly became so easy that he didn't even take any damage during the final battle ...

Yea, a roll of 1 always means a failure, but isn't Luck supposed to affect the rolls themselves? As in rolling a D20 with +6 luck, you'll only roll 7-20. This is actually true for my attack rolls; I've NEVER rolled a critical miss on an attack roll after I've gotten my 2 Loops. On the other hand, I ...

.

luck bonus depends *all* rolls made by your PC!

including all damage rolls including spells and the chance on critical hits - but it doesn't affect e.g. save rolls of your enemy!

you shouldn't get critical fails, but enemies still can score critical hits!

so luck is definetly the by far most ...

Luck - What exactly does it affect?

I'm pretty sure that Luck (from the spell or the Tymora's Loops) affects the following:

Hit rolls (including critical)
Damage rolls
Damage from Fire Shield spells

However, does Luck affect saving throws? With a luck bonus of +6 (two Loops), my guy should never critically fail (throw a 1) a saving ...

Specialist mages get +1 bonus to save against?

I remember from somewhere (was it BG2?) that specialist mages' spells are harder to save against, that enemies get a -1 to save against that specialist's school (as in Invokers' enemies save at -1 against invocation spells like Fireballs, etc.). Is this true in IWD?

Or is the only advantage from ...

Avenger's XP Capper - Does it work?

I installed the XP capper program (which sets the XP cap to level 40) along with the extended tables (put it in override folder), and it seems to have worked, saying that it's been installed and that it's even backed up the old Icewind Dale II program.

Yet I just reached level 30 with my solo Drow ...
