Well, one of the problems I had was that I actually did not know exactly what he could and could not do. I knew about the proficiency points of course, and that he can't cast spells while wearing armor. But since I stayed away from this particular class - and also the Bard NPC's - I didn't know much ...

Sounds good! :)

Good choice with the gauntlets of dexterity. I found that one of the problems I had, was that I kept on giving my protagonist character all the good stuff. So I decided to give one of my "tanks" the gauntlets of dexterity, since they kept getting hit all the time.

I think Jaheira ...

I'll keep an eye on him, you can be sure :)

Just an update:

I just finished chapter 4, with myself, Imoen, Jaheira, Khalid, Faldorn and Coran. Now I'm back to the default party, which will complete the game (+ expansion) in that constellation.

And can I just say...I've heard and read a lot about ...

Minsc the assassin, galraen?...isn't he too big and loud for that, you think? :p

Or maybe it's part of the disguise...

Anyway, concerning the rat; I've always been somewhat suspicious of that one...maybe it's just me?...

Sounds interesting with the monk..that makes sense roleplaying-wise as well ...

Oh yeah, sorry :)

It was a typo...I didn't want to choose True Neutral because of my previous experience with the druid, Neutral Good, because of my earlier aligment choices (they all seemed to be in that goody-good area), and did not want to be evil, that is to say, as you pointed out, Neutral ...

Of Trying Something New

I just wanted to share some gaming experiences. :)

It occurred to me, that while I’ve been playing this series for years, I always ended up with the same party, same class, alignment, and so forth. Somehow I always ended up with something like a regular human Fighter, with chaotic good leanings ...

I know at least that the letter that I spoke of sells for 100 gold pieces; quite a bit more than your usual letter :)

Interesting story there, grimwald, on those emeralds. Wish I would have thought of that :)

Yes, it's rather nice, is it not? :)

I cannot quite think of a thing that random that occurs in the game...you could argue for the messengers that you come across in the wilderness from time to time, but even they have a sort of purpose; I guess it's sort of connecting your own personal quests to ...

Have You Ever

I'm currently in the middle of playing through the Child of Bhaal series (yet) again. As of now, I'm in chapter 3, but I'm doing some side quests in the southwestern areas.

Then I came to the area that contains Drizzt Do'Urden - actually, I went there because of some Half-Ogres that Bjornin the ...

Thank you for your response! :)

My first encounter with dragons in Shadows of Amn is actually quite similar to yours. I know I mentioned the shadow dragon in an earlier post, but it was actually Firkraag I thought of while writing the post. He's clearly more memorable than some of the other ones ...

I agree to a certain extend: but I did not know the gameplay encounters for dragons (or other certain monster types, e.g. vampires, Beholders, Ilithids, and so forth) the first time around. They do lose some of their reputation after a while, I guess. :)

Of dragons (Possibly Spoilers)

I was reading through the Icewind Dale trilogy to sort of prepare for playing these games (among other Forgotten Realms literature). I came upon this notion of dragons by Drizzt Do’Urden (whom we all know, I suppose). Although this concerns the Icewind Dale areas more, I think it’s reasonable to ...

Thank you for your response, CFM! :)

I certainly will agree on those notions; it's kind of a complete experience, when playing one of these great immersive games like the Baldur's Gate Saga. It confronts your senses, as well as being a cognitive and emotional experience as well.

As such, it has ...

Why, thank you for the respond, grimwald. :)

I like your thoughts concerning empathy and freedom of choice.

1) of empathy.

What I do like about the Baldur's Gate games is - other than what you mentioned - that you kind of feel, that it's about YOU, the player - it almost becomes personal, in a ...

Of "atmosphere"

The above term is perhaps not quite adequate concerning what I want to talk about. I remember when Chris Metzen (from Blizzard Entertainment) spoke about Starcraft 2; he explained that it was not only the game mechanics and dynamics, that made the first game so popular, but also what he referred to ...

Hmm..I had not considered that, I must admit...or rather, I'm not sufficiently aware of the AD&D rules; the Baldur's Gate implementation thereof.

To be sure, I am aware that there are is a usage of said rules in the context of Baldur's Gate, but I cannot claim any knowledge of exactly how .

Say ...

Of Class

Hmm...I had not considered - at length - that it probably does not take much to actually become a "level 1" class, in whatever personal leanings one might have.

As has been said in the posts above, one could have read a bit about a particular subject matter - say, druidism - and a ...

Hi Nero!

Aye...I agree with having certain troubles with creating a druid class character...and making up a story that seems plausible enough to fit the character, and the in-game storyline...

I guess you're right, that containing the Blood of Bhaal does removes certain restrictions in the context ...

Why, thank you for your thoughts...

I certainly agree with the notion of atmosphere in the game...unlike many other games of the same genre that I've experience, you're really immersed in this world, from a somewhat innocent beginning, where even an encounter with a mere wolf poses an immense ...

Just a couple of more thoughts

...there are indeed a lot of different approaches to the world of gaming...the roleplaying part being just one of them...

The concept of context - in the definition you brought up, that is - is quite interesting concerning the subject matter, I think...and seems ...
