Thing, I agree completely about your #1.

But, yeah, I didn't mean to sound so pushy in my post. (must have learned that from the rude people on WoW) :)

There are many ways to build, and many different factors such as playing solo w/ large party or playing w/ only 2 or 1 char. Or singleplayer or ...

I know most of you don't play online (and may not have BW), so my advice might not be as valid. When playing online my rule is to make my character self-sufficient. If you think mages are weak then you aren't building them right or don't have good gear. (save up those baubles) Most of your skill ...

I haven't really played more than one char. on single player, but IIRC when you continue the singleplayer game it will let you select which character to use and then you select the difficulty level then it loads where you left off on the map with that character.

And your save folders should be in ...

That's because the spells have a limit, after which an increase of intelligence will no longer increase the spell's power. When you see, "You have maximized this spell's power", then you can no longer get any more Dmg out of it with any more intelligence and must move to the next level spell. You ...

An interesting thing you can try sometime (if you find the right weapons - which is near-impossible though) is use chance 'on' hit weapons with magic skills. For instance, I have a dual-wielder that has two identical swords: 50 to 120 Dmg, +30 to 48 Lightning Dmg, + 2 to chant of stone, + 3 Tremor ...

If you have Broken World, Chant of Stone is probably your best chance for major armor and health boost. And Absorption is great for magic resist. Most important is Life Steal, as mentioned.

Oh and I know many people do, but I don't use curses with my mage, it draws all the aggro and makesthem die ...

The required skill for a piece of fighter armor is the melee skill. And what armor you wear has no effect on experience gained. There's no need to upgrade to a higher leveled armor if it's not better than what you have on regardless of it's level. If you are lvl 68 and wearing a lvl 50 unique armor ...

The only solution I ever found is the Broken World expansion unfortunately. SmartHeap is exactly what I meant by "corrupt" in my reply here

Also look here 5th reply down - Vitamin Carrot has gathered a few links about this. I doubt there's a solution in any of it, other than buy BW. I can't say ...

I'd say go ahead and get the demo. You can learn how everything works, experiment with different races, classes etc. You may end up starting a new character anyhow after you mess the first one (several) up.

As for bugs... Install DS2 then BW then start the game with the BW shortcut only (and ...
