what he said, failing that pick a paladin. :D serious though, don't contemplate playing a Paladin unless you really can get into the RP feel of it. That means no emptying chests and stuff from houses and buildings you visit etc...

Is he level drained? If so, lesser restoration should return him to normal

They regenerate really quickly. You just have to focus everyone on them and hack him down as quickly as possible. He will fall eventually.

There is a list at the TDD webste that shows what new npcs there are, which new kits etc...

it doesn't say what the npc quests are though

As far as I know the patches on KDs site were designed to go on top of the official patch though there will probably be some crossover of fixes. I know it's silly but i never put a patch on for the first 2 times and it all worked fine. i then only put on kd's patch and it still works fine.

I had a similar problem that i didn't have the first few times through. I just leave them to it and stand there watching. de-select all ranged weapons and wait 'till it's over. that way no one can have a go at me. It seemed to work so you might want to try it.
