Damn im stupid, Jaheira cant use maces. Well scimitars are okay too, which she probably will not use since your main thief is using them. Im personally fond of spears, they are unique and not mainstream, there is one with a +10 damage bonus you get in the underwater city which is quite a strong ...

Not sure what it is you want to know but replacing a mage with a fighter is not a good idea you have enough melee already.

Best spells and abilities are Breach, Wish, and Improved Whirlwind. Dont need much more, put Hardiness on for tanks.

Will work either way but i wouldnt use clubs or ...

At it again after a long hiatus, got a few questions...

Hello,

So, I've decided to dust of BG2 for the first time in quite a while. My last savegame was just after the final battle in SoA, so I'm starting out fresh in ToB. Although, before embarking on this journey (it was probably about 4 years ago that I played ToB the last time), I have some ...

I strongly recommend not playing on insane difficulty, the game was balanced for playing at normal difficulty.
Due to popular demand you get double XP at this difficulty which will make the game easier on the long run, battles aren't challenging any more if you have options available long before ...

Tweak input requested.

Hi,

I tend to spend quite some time developing characters in every D&D game I play, IWD is no exception. I've devised a group that I aim to run thru all content once on Insane difficulty and then in HoF mode.

Below is the group in question, followed by a couple of ponderings I'd like the commintys ...

Party Tweaks *Minor Spoilers*

So, I've decided to make a few evil decisions in hell meaning I will probably change from chaotic good to neutral evil. I figured since most of my crew is evil anyway I may as well join in =) I usually play good but I thought it'd be a nice change of pace.

My current party is as follows:

Me ...

Thanks for the replies!

I read on a walkthrough that conjurers can use all the spells, but that doesn't seem to be true, otherwise I would recommend fighter/conjurer instead of fighter/illusionist.
If anyone can clarify this I would be interested. has HoW or ToL altered things?.
The item upgrade ...

Yet another party thread

Hello,

I've decided to dust off this old dungeoncrawler, so I've installed IWD, HoW amd TotLM. I have a few questions but first, I'll post the party draft:

Dwarven Fighter: Axes, Hammers
Human Paladin: Large swords, Flails, <Ranged Weapon>
Half-Elf Bard: Crossbows, Halberds
Half-Elf Ranger/Cleric ...

Detect illusions functions like a free, near constant true sight when you have the skill at 100.

See that skill (same as set trap) as a percentage marker. At 100, you'll never fail - and going above will not yield any benefits.

Detect illusions works as true sight when you activate the "detect ...

Personally I've never boosted Illusion at all, not since I found out how useless it is.

Ah, then I'll keep my hands off it. Feel free to elaborate what exactly makes it useless, as I have yet to even try it :)

Also, there's no reason to increase set traps, find traps or open locks past 100, is ...

Detect Illusions

Hi,

I'm playing through BG2 with a kensai/thief (dualed at 9 cause I'm running a full group and didn't have the patience to wait any longer) and I've boosted open locks, find traps, set traps, hide and move silently to ~100 respectively.

I know it's worthwhile to increase hide, move silently and ...

Or there's always Analman, he can make a decent tank, but if (as I suspect) your protagonist is female, then maybe you don't want that romance.

All the protagonists are male. But I can't stand Anomen/Analman.

Anyway, appreciate the input, maybe Mazzy will make it into the evil group, good banter ...

Some input on various NPCs needed.

Hi guys,

I've decided to give the game a go again. I'll be running 3 different characters simultaneosly and I need some advice.

I will run a good/neutral group, a evil/neutral group and one mixed group. I have some trouble deciding various stuff when it comes to the NPC's though.

Let's start with ...

Thanks for the input guys, I appreciate it!

@flix: The reason I wanted to know if Alacrity was viable was that I couldn't find anything that explicitly stated you needed to be dualwielding for it to have effect. I guess the fact that it's in the dual-wield tree is pretty self-explanatory, heh ...

Party Optimization

Hi,

First of all, this is going to be a rather long post, so I apologize in advance.

Now, I've decided on what 4 characters I'll use running through this game but I'm debating some stuff on each of the characters. I'd like you input.

[Main Character - Elven Combat Mage]

Combat, Highest ...

Treasurer reward *SPOILERS*

So, I've reached the point where the dwarves wants me to pick a reward from their treasurer and I'm having a hard time deciding.

Current Setup:

Me: Tank (1h Axe/Shield)

Rhulana: Melee DPS, currently wielding Traldars sword with the wound proc. Off-tanks when needed (Highly proficient with Sabres ...

So how effective/useful are Iron Rot Rust and Coprofigo anyway? I'm playing a burglar (I just love playing rogue classes), so Gledys, cute as she is, got replaced with Gwendala as soon as I rescued her. Then with Gwen I used mostly Sleep, her own summon and Plumabarm and of course, Gwen was my main ...

I really only recently added a caster to the party, but once I did, I found him rather useful, though I do tend to use a very minimal selection of spells.

Fastness of Body, for one, I'm finding keeps the battlemage standing "tall and proud" through most battles. I kept it at level 10, thus having ...

About spells

Hi,

I'd like to know your take on the spells in Drakensang. Which one's do you like, which ones you dislike and of course the whys behind your reasoning.

I'm also curious to know what spells that aren't really worth maximizing out of the ones you actually use.

Thanks in advance,

Thanks for the input, SWCarter.

Have you had any experience with Animal/Plant lore ?

Rhulana has 10 ranks in each, but fails around 75% of the time anyway, even on simple herbs. I know she doesn't have the best attributes for these skills, but will increasing the amount of ranks in the skill to ...
