Annoying French Troll
Hello.
1) As it was stated on this forum, cover affect spell that require a ranged attack roll. Your magic-user will have a better time succeeding with cat's grace and a clear sight of the target (nobody in front). Goes the same for archers.
2) Made potion only until now ...

Uber God and gamer interest
For a good counterexemple of an addictive game that stay addictive even when you reach really high level, see Torment.
There are way to make a game compelling even when you are soooooo powerful. To start up with, i'd suggest sending worthy opponent to them.
I don't ...

Spell level and character level are 2 separate things in ad&d
look for a table... in ToEE, character level is capped to 10.
this means that your spellcasters won't be able to cast spell level above level 5. I even doubt such spells are defined in the game (The baldur gate serie had some on scrolls ...

level & party
you know, it is not that bad you dont get your character to level 10. A party of 6 or 7 members of a lesser level is, to my opinion, a lot more efficient... You get 6-7 chances to be first with your initiative rolls, more spells in a single round, More attacks, etc.
Generally ...

game design
althought I really understand the mechanism of this thing, the reason why it could have been a good idea to build a dungeon this way,
In game design, it is *vital* that the player knows or gets clues of what is happening to keep him focused on the game, and not boring him. In real ...

others must actually search for them
you can use knock on the door,

another thing, try to switch in combat mode by pressing C and try to walk through the door. I notices ...

beside tashas irrisistible laughs (1st level bard and m-u without a level cap like sleep) to render helpless powerful monsters,
one can cast invisibility or sanctuary and go past the monsters.
if there's loot or chests, I believe you should be able to pick it, empty it without ...

As in almost every dungeon crawl,
the equipment you'll find in your adventures will replace what you have anyway. I never needed to equip myself. I just got everything from the combat loot. (later you can create your uber equipment pieces too)

A pack of adventurers came to to moath

Lubash, the mighty ogre couldn't resist
As there was nobody with to assist

by an helpless band of wannabes

Art package
I haven't seen any possibility to update the stuff in Toee. I thrust it you did. Depending of the bitmap format, you'll probably need something equivalent to photoshop to do the job. I suggest The gimp a GNU (read free) multiplatform gfx package. shipped with everything it takes to ...

read the box before buying a game!
hello,
It was clearly stated in all documentation, information about TOEE that it was turn based. You won't get realtime on this one sorry!
You don't need to pause the game as it's turn based during any event that would require you to pause the game.
Beside ...
