Thanks

I thought that I had been all over their site, and although this is my first return in here, I had seen the quote you found earlier, but I didn't see it until later, probably on the 18th. I think I'll wait it out and see if my old account works for everything after the forums are repaired ...

Anyone know what happened to the official forums for Witcher?

Both my own bookmarks, and any links that Google comes up with, are getting an error (404 type) message about no such page. With the release of Witcher 2 tomorrow, you'd think that they'd really want to be online with it now to take advantage of the release date excitement!

My endeavor is a solitary one?

How about this, then, which comes first, patch 1.06, or the HoW expansion?

I installed the game to a middle-aged K7 PC, although it's fairly new to me, and the game didn't seem to want to be installed in Win2000, so it will be played in Win98se.

Combined interests of Oldie Games plus the matching Oldie Hardware

How many IWD fans are also inveterate tinkerer types? I have a great deal more free time now than funds to play at new PC builds, so I am building some period-suited old PCs.

It would be great to share notes. Back during 1997 to 2001, plus or minus, I had almost no spare time for gaming, and ...

Hand weapons in the pre-firearms armies

When the early D&D rose out of "Chainmail", it brought with it a fascination with armaments, and I clearly remember being appalled at the huge number and variety of polearms. Eventually, I found a reference book from the "Paladin" game that was filled with ...

Some amended (CPU) parts to System Requirements, but the GPUs are STILL WRONG

The more-or-less consensus of those who participated here in a discussion of DA:O more than a month ago was that the PR folks were utterly inept, and that the programmers they involved in their efforts should have been ...

Bad Press doesn't seem to be much of a problem

However, they have chosen to accentuate some of the action style features, rather than the Role Play. Gore is being hyped up, and sex, as well.

Nonsensical video card choices in the requirements

Anyone with a slight knowledge about PC video cards can see a variety of ignorant inclusions in the proposed System Requirements. For instance, a Geforce 7600 GT is named as minimum for a PC running Vista. The equivalent Radeon for performance is ...

Getting it on Good old Games' availability rolls

There are open lists of games you can add your votes to for getting your preference added to the GoG downloads. It is well worth the time to visit there and look up any favorites you've had, to put in some more votes on them.

Remember, that in ...

According to the System Requirements, I can't, but I did . .

Tricky wanted to know about Lower Power PCs versus Witcher; so did I. But I gambled that one PC or another here would work, and started out with a middle level one (maybe low to some folks), with only a 3000+ AMD performance rating, a ...

Not even the published minimums are enough

nVidia's FXes are supposed to be "supported". I've tested Oblivion with an FX 5900 Vanilla card, and an FX 5700 Ultra (the specs on the two are not that far apart), and out of doors, you can just forget trying the game with those. With a Geforce 6600 GT ...

As I recall, that is a sign of running an Intel IGP

When the moderating nazis made Bethsoft's forums too rigidly jackbooted and I quit going there, dopey newbies were still wandering in with that error and claiming their PCs met the requirements, in spite of not even having any video card. Idiots ...

Year-old unanswered query here

When Yeltsu described the type of exit the game performed, no one answered him (her) at that time. Now that someone else is reopening the thread, and I answered that, there is the old item about the game closing to the desktop without any useful error message.

I ...

Uncertain how well known MODS are in W-8

Until earlier this week, I was unaware that any such existed.

I never did quite finish Wiz8, although I played Wiz7 a couple of times, and all the Wizardries that came before them. However, while visiting the Wiz8 forum at Ironworks, I learned about mods for it hosted on the Flame Stryke site ...

Never thought of going backward

HOTU is absolutely best, SOU is too short and OC kinda lacks story....

SoU, nevertheless, is quite enjoyable, despite some shortness. There is no builtin way to take a character from the expansions and plug him/ her into the OC, but surely with the DM & Toolset ...

Redundant Rogue-types

I never used a thief in any M&M, and I played all of them from MM3 to MM7 (many repeats of MM6) -- just never could really get into MM8, and MM9 was incomplete when released, and only patched by the gamer community.

As already stated, the OS' install was broken by HP in the first place

You have to arrange for warranty service on the bad install of Vista (ask for XP when you are there; probably won't do any good, but worth trying).

Dead end on Witcher official site's opening page

Nothing happened via the dialup, no menu, no live links, somewhat like the Flash Player animation on Atari's web site that keeps you out unless you have the very latest flash player version, and puts no error message on screen if you do not want ...
