If ya want a challenge. Don't use cheese tactics that exploit lack or forsight or stupidity on the programmers part. Don't use traps on dragons, don't use buffing spells in advance. Don't lure people out cause the yare too stupid to to stay together etc.

First, with all the ridiculous items in the game, proficient is all you need to wipe the floor with things.

But, the real key is, get a different party member or 5 to kill the +4 only things, not to mention of course, you can keep Gesan on you even if you don't have points in it.

Heh, it may be a good adventure for the party to get fluky rolls, but it is no fun when some pissant kobold rolls 99-96-98 or whatever crushing in your characters skull.

Any competent game designer knows, let the player win unless they are incompetent. Games are supposed to be fun above all else ...

Save vs. Death, Parylization, something else
10
Save vs. Spells 6

based on this, we can figure out some odds ; )

50% chance of instant death on the first hit, 25% chance of surviving two.
49% chance of not getting stunned from the two swings remaining in that round.

Trump Card #1: Namara +2, 3 ...

Point one) Get stunned once, any smart person will keep you stunned, and how good is good? even with a save verse spell of 5, the odds of lasting 2 round without being stunned is miniscule, after that just keeping swinging through your spell protections you will keep getting restunned and die ...

Draug Fea says, "Give me 1000 gold!"
John Smith the exhausted sorcerer says, " Kindly wait 8 hours while I rest and rememorize spells to turn you into a pile or incineratd powder."
Draug Fea says, "Oh sure, I don't value my life much."

You all seem to think it means "we are REQUIRED to be level 40." Look at planescape, you can get somewhere around 12 million XP before it stops, but I'm in the second to last area with about 600k to each character. I beat BG II the first time with a little less then 2.4 million on a few characters

I'll repost what I put elsewhere here:

First, lets get one thing straight: any fight that involves the staff of the Magi can be summed up like this.

"If I had an item that was implemented with horrendous lack of thought and forsight, I could KICK YOUR PANSY ASS!"

Also bear in mind, a druid could ...

[QUOTE} no it's called tactic and knowing your spells some are more obvious than other.

Using Skeletons against MindFlayers is tactics,

Using couldkill against Dragons where they don't fight back is exploiting f@#@ing incompetent AI, not tactics. Intelligent AI, a well programmed dragon, or a DM ...

Tell me I'm not losing it,

Spell triggers JUST WON'T WORK FOR MY SORCERERS, some characters can get up to level 6 spells, some level 4 some level ONE. But not one can get level 9. My fighter/mage has no problem with chain contingency.

on a side note, I have 2 level 6 spells and 3-4 in levels 7,8, and 9. I'm playing without ...

A) Stoneskin, Mirror Image, MANTLE. Two, a high assasin can't dispell invis since they can't cast spells.

If we are playing without the cap, then set up contingency and chain contingency with sunfire and wilting, which will NOT be reflected by the reflection cloak as they are not aimed at the other ...

Thats a ridiculous complaint, if it is too easy, don't exploit bugs and summon more then 5 creatures. BTW, the AI really needs to learn when NOT to target spells.

WE CAN'T TEST IT OUT. BG assumes your a friendly, so many many spells don't work (Wilting, invis, true sight.) against the other character.
