anyhow I started the game again now with a jedi consular, is this a good class or?
Consulars are masters of the Force, meaning that you´ll probably not be using them in melee combat much. They get a lot more Force powers than the other classes, and that´s what they should focus on. If the Guardian is a Fighter and the Sentinel is a Rogue, then the Consular would be the Mage.
Seeing that the classes can be combined with different prestige classes, it´s not set in stone that the Consular should stay in the back and cast away. A popular build is the Consular/Weapon Master, combining the Force Focus feat with the Weapon Masters advanced Lightsaber feats. You´ll have a happy inbetween, seeing that you´ll be able to penetrate the enemy defences against Force attacks more easily than other classes, and if that fails, you´ll have the option to deal more effective attacks with your Lightsaber and, say, the Flurry feat. Think Yoda here.
If you´re going for the Consular/Jedi Master, you´ll be a little low on Hit Points, but you´ll be swimming in Force Points, and you´ll also be able to cast Powers of an opposite alignment more aggressively, without much thought about running out of Force Points.
Back to Kreia. You´ll really want as much influence with her as possible, so I can´t recommend pissing her off (much). She tells a lot of the background story and some of it gives Experience Points. Some times though, aggreeing with her to gain influence will result in Dark Side Points, but even as a Light Side Jedi I take the penalty. You´ll get plenty of chances to redeem yourself later on.
And another thing about Jedi Training for your comrades, especially Bao-Dur and The Diciple. It may be tempting to keep your followers at a low level, to gain as many Jedi levels as possible. With Atton and Mira I find that it helps and is justified, but in Bao-Dur´s case I find that it´s not a crucial priority. I level him up as a Tech Specialist some times, since he´s not able to wear Jedi Robes but only armor as a Jedi anyway, thereby loosing the ability to cast a good number of Powers, unless I decide to let him run around pretty much in just his ordinary clothes. I wouldn´t recommend that, though. I put him in some armor instead and concentrate on Powers that can be cast in armor. He´ll be more skilled with Demolitions etc., and he´ll still be able to hold his own in combat rather decently with his Guardian class.
The Diciple, if I decide to turn him into a combat-oriented Jedi, I´ll level up as a Soldier some times before training him as a Consular. He´ll be lagging a bit behind as a Consular in terms of number of Powers and so on, but I have never felt that I´ve been missing out on much. This way he´ll be more proficient on the frontline, going toe-to-toe with melee opponents, swinging away with Lightsabers. And thinking about it, he doesn´t really miss out on that much. Consulars gain more Powers at regular intervals during level-ups anyway, so all in all (depending on how many Soldier levels he gets), I guess he ulitmately gets roughly as many powers as a Guardian or a Sentinel.
The Handmaiden I train as a Jedi Guardian immediately. She doesn´t get any benefits by leveling up as a Soldier first.
But you decide how you want to do it.
