Erhh Monster lore?

Post by Pekka »

Can anyone explain to me what this talent does? When I was choosing it, I thought - great, gonna save dough on those ridiculously expensive monster books. (why are they so expensive anyhow?) But now it doesn't seem to do anything, I fight monsters I havent encountered previously and I get no knowledge about them untill I buy the damn book  So whats the point I ask? Please, help me clarify this.

I have no idea. I also learnt Monster Lore and while it did add some information at the beginning levels, it didn't do anything in the later ones. Had to rely on books for most of the information.
''They say truth is the first casualty of war. But who defines what's true? Truth is just a matter of perspective. The duty of every soldier is to protect the innocent, and sometimes that means preserving the lie of good and evil, that war isn't just natural selection played out on a grand scale. The only truth I found is that the world we live in is a giant tinderbox. All it takes...is someone to light the match" - Captain Price

Sounds like it's just a broken skill then. Oh well... Guess I have to be grateful it's only a bronze talent.

I don't think it's broken. I think it just provides information about a few Chapter I monsters, and if you've already learned about them, then you don't get any benefit.

QFT. I tested this.

Hmm, ok. Though nowhere in the talent description does it warn you that you're only gonna get knowledge of the Chapter 1 monsters. It'd be fun if, say, Oil making or Incineration only worked in Chapter 1, wouldn't it?

Oh well, thanks for your replies, guys..

FWIW, here are the monsters that you learn about from the skill: barghests, drowners, ghouls and graveirs.
