SupaCat wrote:Yes, but that's what I don't like about BiA 3, it just isn't as challenging as before. When my teammates were first shot in BIA 3, I mourned their loss, but hey, once I got to a checkpoint and could just get them back 'Hey weren't you dead' 'Yeah, but at this checkpoint there is... a medicstation?' . The game lost one of its prime components, the so called 'Band of Brothers' feeling. I had to load my game 2 times or so, just because of a stupid mistake I made, while in the previous 2 about 100 times. I mean in those games, I wasn't busy trying to kill Germans and move on, I was trying to save my own ass.
In the first BiA and Hell's Highway, I always reload if one of my team-mates got hit (didn't get Earned in Blood, because a lot of people called it an expansion instead of a sequel). The former more than the latter, I admit but that was because in the first one, while challenging, isn't because the Jerries are smarter. They were playing cheat. I suppress them, then flank them with an assault squad, only to see Jerry shifting to face the flanking squad.

I quickly called the assault squad back (because I ever suffered losses thanks to several of these incidents) only to see them shift back to their original position. Even going there myself also triggered that response as well. For heaven's sake they're suppressed! How the hell do they know some dude is going to flank 'em? Do they somehow possess some sixth sense to tell where another person is?

Call me paranoid, but I prefer having full teams rather having one or more less members in a team or a team completely eliminated. I did that not because I have any feelings for them, but because I want an effective fighting force. This applies to both games.

I know what you mean, esspecially near the end of the game, where it just doesn't matter if they are suppresed or not, they just keep shooting.

Also, one of my biggest complaints on Hells Highway are the solo missions, where you have to kill around 15 germans on you own (realistic?) and of course the tank missions, where you sit in a tank and just keep shooting at everthing that moves (where's the team combat?).

How are you finding Fallout 3?

I'm going to write article in the blog later today about it but. But in truth? Very good, almost perfect. I had my own fears about Bethesda and Fallout 3, but so far the game has proven to be worth of the Fallout title.

Edit: The article is posted, but had to post it in two parts, as it was too long for one post :D

I played Assassin's Creed a while ago on the PC. Gets dull and repetitive pretty fast.

That's surprising. Hum.

I'm looking forward to reading it.

Also interested as to what Brother None has to say.

Playing Far Cry 2 right now and enjoyed it, though not as much as BiA: Hell's Highway (also playing it at the moment).

Currently enjoying the new casual game Bejeweled Twist (almost daily) and I've started playing Icewind Dale 2 again, hoping to finally get past that dreaded Dragon's Eye and finish the game, been going to and back from it forever.

I'm playing Vampire the Masquerade: Redemption again and I'm having more fun with this game than I have with any other in a long time. Too bad I'm already halfway through (well, in truth I have been playing it for a week). There is a small Linux related (actually, WINE related) graphical glitch that forces me to turn off the shadows before a video starts playing, but other than that it runs very well with all the settings turned up. Including FSAA, which is not really an in-game setting. Smooth framerates too. I forgot how completely badass my rig used to be. :p

I'm turning sire Christof into a mage. The game doesn't strictly follow the WoD ruleset, so I can obtain disciplines outside of my clan. I think this is the first time I actually try to make him learn thaumaturgy.

Downloaded the demo of Company of Heroes (1.8 GB !!!). Man, now that's a cool RTS game. I played the skirmish level like 10 times. It has taken alot of elements from Command and Conquer generals though (even the engine), but I really love the combat and fighting for positions (only the sniper-unit is stupid). Maybe I'll buy it, don't know yet.

Currently playing Red Alert 3 and Prince of Persia.

In the case of the former, I enjoyed it, though I felt that some of the elements were simplified, such as ore gathering to name a few (up till the point that it looks as if it's for first-timers into the RTS genre).

I also enjoyed Prince of Persia as well. Liked the more open structure of the game and the art direction of the game, though combat is somewhat of a mixed bag and a little bit on the easy side at times, due to the lack of dying.
