The Burning Blade expansion

Post by Grimar »

So... there is an expansion coming. you can read about it in the news forum(further up).

so which expactations(sp?) do people have of the new expansion?

i think it looks very nice! lvl 70(yes!!!), and the possibility to actually get an even better mount. and it's a dragon

it's only usable some places, but it's still an rideable dragon :)
I once had a little teaparty, this afternoon at three, twas was very small, three guests in all; I, myself, and me. myself ate up the sandwhiches, while i drank up the tea. twas also i that ate the pie,and passed the cake to me :D

Burning Crusade ;)

I think it odd the Blood Elves joined the Horde. I had always believed them to become be a separate faction along with the Naga.

That said, I probably won't even be playing the expansion, since I quit WoW in favor of my social life. I'm curious about the Karazhan dungeon though, having read The Last Guardian.

Think it is a good thing that the bloodelves join the horde.
Maybe then the sides will be better balanced (on my server there are more nightelves then that there are horde members).
I do not have the touch, nor do I have the power.

Blood Elves are supposedly the "pretty" race for the horde to help attract players that don't like to play monsters :)
It is quite clear that it is a balancing move as said by Stilgar.

As for increasing the level cap, then I've never been in favor of such a strategy, because it means the entier balance worked for at level 60 now has to be reworked to fit level 70 and with all the existing dungeons made for level 60 cap, they will also need work otherwise they become to easy.

Anyways, I doubt much of it was unexpected.

I dont think that will happan.
And that isnt a good thing.
As soon as the expension comes out, it will be (even more) impossible to get a party to the core.
Or even to Stratholme for that matter.
I do not have the touch, nor do I have the power.

Yea I know, but still, what of the Naga now? Don't tell me they're joining the Alliance (being an "ugly" race and all)...

Yeah, it should be interesting.

I've heard rumors that the Pandarens could become the new race for the Alliance. I'm still not quite sure about this, though.

I agree on Blood Elves joining the Horde in that it makes sense with the Alliance's penchant for purifying light compared to the Horde's use of primal spirituality and more leniance for demonic magics. My guesses to their features are these.

Available classes: Warrior, Hunter, Rogue, Mage, and Warlock. Possibly even Priest, but not likely.

Special abilities: +5 to shadow damage to spells that deal shadow damage, +10 Shadow resistance

I would've loved to see a third Outland faction of Blood Elves, Naga, Draenei, and Fel Orcs. At least that would've made sense.

The Blood Elves and Naga were meant to be together under Illidan's lead. They are all that remains of the Highborne. The Fel Orcs would've been a perfect match, since they too still have a thirst for magic. And the Draenei, well, Illidan saved their butts in TFT, so they owe him. Or perhaps the Satyrs instead, seeing as they too are some kind of offspring of the Highborne.

So many ways would've been more interesting than this. Ah well... I'm sure Metzen will be able to do something with this story, but still it all feels a bit forced.

The what...?

I'm curious to see what they have on store for the 10 new levels - new quests, new spells, additional talents... Will they be as exciting as the previous levels?
I wonder how hard a monster will be at lvl 70, when you can solo Onyxia...

I don't like it, especially not the levelcap increase, because it won't make a difference to be honest, suuuuure you can solo stratholme, or do MC in a 10 man group, but there will always be lvl 72 elites just like there is lvl 62 elites now. It will basically be the same thing as we are doing now, only in more spiky epics...

You know, the Pandarens, like the Pandaren Brewmaster hero from Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne.

I really hope that the pandaren will not be the new alliance race. Not that I will play alliance anyway. Might try out Bloodelf, if I still play when it is released that is.

Increasing the level cap will make everything more difficult, because you need to get yourself higher level and you will prob be only able to lvl up in Outland, and i think pandarens would be quite cool, but where would they start. Also, i hear that you can go into the emerald dream and the caverns of time aswell but they maybe rumours, and the medivhs tower i think is the next patch or so i hear.

Level cap increases are always just another way to try and expand the high level content.
When people start reaching level 70 in masses, which shouldn't take long if doing regular dungeon runs, then they'll start to look towards an increase to level 80, and now Blizzard has shown to go the SoE EQ way, and then people *will* expect the level cap of WoW to be increased yet again, possible to 100 next time?

Increasing levels will always - in my view - be the wrong way to go.

Also because they'll have to rebalance the game. There is always complains about overpowered classes, and developers are constantly balancing classes towards each other with PvP and PvE in mind, and increasing the levels will mean that differences in class power will be amplified and more "cries" for nerfs and balancing will appear. Also - the existing dungeons will be to easy, because they were created with level 60 in mind.

Instead of having to work to rewamp the classes constantly, it would be much more interesting seeing a MMOG where they'd rewamp the content. Change the layouts of existing dungeons, placed new monsters, changed quests - now that could keep players on their toes, but just 10 more levels of the same before tackeling the new high end dungeons will not add significant longtitude to the game for "ordinary" gamers.

I love you Xandax! :p Finally someone who sees this the same way I do ;)

And for being harder, was it harder to go from lvl 50 to lvl 60 than it was from 40 to 50? Nope, it just took more time.., To be honest, I think this is a cheesy way to "improve" the game...

Totally disagree. i love levelling up, and existing dungeons made too easy. then, don't do them then at a higher level. there will be new dungeons for higher levels. i reckon, they are going to mke all the level 60's in the game, 61, to make it a bit easier for them, while everyone else can carry on. Also, the game needs more high end stuff, otherwise you are just doing UBRS, LBRS, BWL, MC, BRD, Strat, Scholo and ZG all the time ad naeseum. there needs to be new stuff for more challenges, like the plague, that was a great idea. also the game is awesome so don't diss it. they need to improve it or everyone may get bored!! im only a lvl 41 warrior, but i love the game and will play it until i die if i wanted too. there is so much stuff in there to do. Thank you very much for hearing me out.

You would not be saying that if you have 50 days+ played on your character. All the items gathered would become void as they are only level 60 items instead of level 70. Increasing the higher level content by increasing the max level is not e very bright move as the whole end game will have to be rebalanced. I know for sure that I would stop playing if all my BWL/MC items suddenly become less powerful than quest rewards from Outland.

And what about all the quests we did after we became level 60? What about all that exp? Is that just down the drain, or will people recieve it immediatly once the patch comes?

IMO both choices are equally bad, if we don't get the exp we've gathered, then that's really a big loos for people. And if we get it all at once, then we'd all be lvl 65 or so immediatly...

It just doesn't work to be honest.
