And it's helluva hard to use such thing, not to tell having two lightstaff's...but the idea sound great to me
In the mist by the hills the day darkens
In this forest death rules
Over this chasm riders of doom and face him with a deadly pale
Spectre face
Grim as stone, ride to the deathfields... Blackness and doom
A total eclipse of the sun
Die by the northern triology in the mist by the hills

In one of the books...Jedi Search maybe... a Jedi in training builds a lightsaber that's blade can extend until it is nearly twice as long as it originally starts out (and I believe can also be made much shorter too, if the user wants). It's length giving a bit of a bonus in that enemies can't get close enough to attack with a regular lightsaber, but also has the disadvantage of being rather clumsy and difficult to use. I could see something like that being implimented, but I don't think they'll ever move away from what's been established in the movies (two sabers, one saber, or the double saber).
I'd rather just be given some options when creating my lightsaber (assuming that the PC gets to do that) than having a whole bunch of new lightsaber types. Let me design the handle, pick some special features, whatever and that would be enough for me (maybe have it called "<whatever your name is>'s lightsaber so it doesn't just vanish if you unequip it and there's another with the same crystals in it sitting in your inventory. I was kind of annoyed in the first Kotor when my lightsaber was so ununique that it was stacked with the lightsaber I'd taken from a random, no-name Sith that hadn't even lasted five seconds against me!
Anyway, rant over, the lightsabers are fine as they are, let's just get some more choices to make then feel like they really are something the character created... perhaps some sort of lightsaber assembly minigame...

Hmm. Dug up this thread while leafing through the archives and it attracted my attention, so decided to post something here.
Fierce, your idea about the fistsaber is a good, for close combat. Kind of remind me like the retractable blade on the clone commandos in Republic Commando or like Wolverine's retractable blade as an example.
I might have an idea here though it does sound slightly off-topic but why not have a lightsaber attached to the tip of a blaster rifle? It would sound similar to bayonets attached to rifles but at least it will give the blaster pistol/rifle wielder some melee options when some enemy is within striking distance.
P.S. No shuriken-type lightsaber for me here. Can't imagine for the life of it fighting with those. Might get yourself sliced in half if you're not careful:laugh: .

''They say truth is the first casualty of war. But who defines what's true? Truth is just a matter of perspective. The duty of every soldier is to protect the innocent, and sometimes that means preserving the lie of good and evil, that war isn't just natural selection played out on a grand scale. The only truth I found is that the world we live in is a giant tinderbox. All it takes...is someone to light the match" - Captain Price
Ok, I hate to bring Gungans into it, but what about an energy shield that is actually a shield like the Gungans use in The Phantom Menace? You could use it with a lightsaber and it would look cool.
That shield idea would be great but the problem is that I've never seen a Jedi wield a shield in battle before. Might have to sacrifice the dual lightsaber wield but at least you have some added protection.

You could give the feat to a non-jedi NPC, who you can jedify. That would make it unique - much like Mira's wrist launcher.
It would be a small shield - like a buckler.

ya
the lightsaber is pretty much the trademark of the jedi/sith it is a weapon that defines them so to make any major changes would result in a loss of identity and or familirarity plus it is already like the most kick ass weapon why ess with something that works right. but i do think that your weapon designs are good and maybe we could see them made into some other kind of meele energy weapon maybe for some new specific class i dont know theres tons of things you can do with them lol im not to fond of the idea of a lightbow though

Why would anyone want a weapon like that when you have blaster rifles to shoot someone with? All I need is a scope, a zoom in ability attached and boom! Headshot:laugh: .

Other Light weapon types, mustly the of the Lightsaber variety:
Fiber-cord linked lightsabers
Curve-hilted Lightsaber (wouldn't be able to make it out very well during gameplay but in the menu where you equip it or upgrade it would be easier to see)
Dual-phase Lightsaber
Great Lightsaber/Lightclub
Forked Lightsaber
Lightdagger
Lightsaber cane
Lightwhip

Lightdagger and the curve-hilt lightsaber sounds neat. But some of those you mentioned do seem a little weird. I can't imagine a lightsaber to act like a whip or turn out like a fork-like shape for that matter. Same goes for the lightclub and fibre-cord type shape.

Okay, I did go and take a look. However, these types of lightsabers seem to have been derived from the Star Wars Expanded Universe series (I don't delve into those kinds of things). Though some might sound cool, there are others that strike me as odd and hard to comprehend at times.

The only ones to ever show up in the nonExpanded Universe were regular, Electrum, Short, Curved Hilt, Double Bladed, and Dual Phase.
the light-nunchacku sound a little hard to handle without your hand be cut off.
True. Not only your hand but also your arm if you're pretty unlucky. Also include that 4-pointed lightsaber (more like a shuriken type) in that list of that too.
...but the light-whip doesn't sound too bad, a very good idea even if you ask me.
Come to think of it, yeah, might sound good, though, how's a lightsaber going to replicate a whip and act like one? That's the question.

I know. I was referring to someone's previous post and mine about this shuriken lightsaber.
