There's absolutely no BEST party. You can finish the game with 6 x NMs if you like. 6 x Melee will stand forever, and 6 x CMs will have a pretty awesome DPS...
...BUT, you want 'colorful' characters. Every character you build, has unique capabilities, exactly how you want to shape them. Basically what you are doing, is making your
own recipe for DS2. A bit of this... a bit of that... and you get a unique charatcer...
At the end of the day, I haven't heard of any 'tool' you can use, to actually measure your party's performance. Eg. I want a 'number' at the top right of my screen, showing me my DPS.
Basically what you want, is a place where you can 'measure' your party, and 'see' all the hard work you put into them. Like an online TOP 10, where you can post your scores in different situations.
All I do now, is run my party through different tests, and see how they fare.
Here is a couple of my tests:
Test 1: Indestructibility
- Question: How long can they stand? Can I go and make myself a cup of coffee without worrying about them dying?
- Location: Zaramoths Horns.
- Goal: Round up as many monsters as possible, from the entrance where the Twin-Staircase start, to all the way up to the Final Ascent. Monster count - roughly 200 - takes about 2 hours just to round them up - and see how long your party can stand.
- Characters: 6 Member Party (2 x Melee, 2 x CM, 2 x NM)
- Offensive/Defensive: Defensive - no attacking.
Result: After 2 hours of standing in a mob of 200, only 2 died.
Test 2: DPS
- Question: What's the DPS of my party in a battle, if I unleash ALL my powers?
- Location: Lower Zaramoths Horns, Big room with eye-laser inside.
- Goal: Round up the monsters, count them (70 monsters - you'll round up only 60) and add up their HP (Health Points). Their HP is about 1,1 million combined. Round them up and blast them, using a stopwatch.
- Characters: 6 Member Party (2 x Melee, 2 x CM, 2 x NM)
- Offensive/Defensive: Heavy Offensive
Result: The Boss429 Party wiped 60 monsters in 24 seconds, resulting in a DPS of 42 000.
Test 3: The Ganth
- Question: Can my Solo Combat Mage beat the Ganth... without moving/dodging/running?
- Location: Water Chapel.
- Goal: Beat the Ganth by running up to him, and staying right there next to him, and see if you can beat him (with his gigantic Health Steal and all).
- Characters: ParaBellum, Solo Fire/Cursing Combat Mage, Level 85.
- Offensive/Defensive: Heavy Offensive
Result: The Ganth was beaten in about 2 minutes.
Test 4: Most Powerful
- Question: Which character in the game is the most powerful?
- Location: Lower Zaramoths Horns, Big room with eye-laser inside. (Same room as Test 2)
- Goal: Round up the monsters with a Solo Character, and see who is the most powerful.
- Characters: Sartan, Solo Dual-Wielder, Level 85.
- Offensive/Defensive: Heavy Offensive
Result: The Dual-Wielder is the most powerful character in the game. In Test 2 the 6 member party cleared the room in 24 seconds, but the Dual-Wielder (using his hidden powers) cleared the room in 10 seconds, resulting in a DPS of about 100 000+ - no other character has come close, except the Archer with
his hidden powers.
Those are the type of tests I put my characters in, because everyone always says that they have strong parties but theres no numbers to back anything up. A friend, Sacrosanct, beat the Dark Wizard in 10 seconds with the Dual-Wielder - that's impressive. No bugs, no cheats, because I tested it.
See, any party is powerful, but is every party
unique and
colorful?
