Yes, he reduced them to 200 experience points each!

200 experience points each?? ROFL!!

Alrighty, then....

I have yet to complete any of the Eastern Houses third level quests... I may explore those a bit further.

...off to get *real* cheesy.. :-)

I have read this message over a number of times and somehow, it doesn't read very nice.

FRED hasn't replied to this, I expect he's pretty busy with school. But I suspect his reasoning is that with his modifications there are so many bad guys, he probably has no reason to want to 'bulk up'.

We all play the game differently. Personally, I'm big on the magic. Others I know enjoy the melee. I use melee when there are just a few bad guys. But magic seems so much more *efficient* against more than a few.

I don't *like* to go out and not know whether I'm actually gonna make it through the next day! For some, that might be the thrill. For *me*, I like to know that I've prepared myself enough that I can handle just about anything. I do like to have those challenges.. but just not around *every* corner, every step.

Skuldoon and the Moonbeast island are 'safe' places for me. I LIKE spending time there. Skuldoon is controlled and I can test different spells/weapons/strategies. The Island lets me bulk up and get my character beefed up so that I feel pretty confident moving about the land.... I like that. Besides--I relieve MUCH STRESS beating up moonbeasts and minotaurs. *heh* Those are two places I simply don't want...modified.. for my money, anyways.

Well, actually the reason is that I always hated "bulking up" on moonbeasts, I found that part of the game very annoying for some reason. The same applies to the arena. It's way too mind-numbing for me to battle the same type of monster for 2 hours straight only to "bulk up" my character! I'd rather spend five hours battling tons of different monsters in the Vale of Ruin or Forbidden Lands, which is how most of my characters are "bulking up" nowadays. And it's much more difficult as well (I'm a big fan of difficult games but I hate it if things are too easy, which is the case for most characters after they finished building their main skills to high levels because DL just doesn't offer any real high-level enemies).

Ok, file read error. Now for a request or merely a suggestion.

In c1.5, there's a certain brick that cannot be pushed to open a room on the previous floor down, in the theater. That room still has the 3 chests with loot in them. I know this from hex editing my location to get into the room.

Please look into that un-pressable brick. Also, there's several doors in Fargrove that cannot be opened. Wouldn't it be super if one could get through those doors for maybe extra loot.

About the brick, well, I'll see what I can do. But maybe I won't be able to make it work, don't know yet. And the "doors that cannot be opened", I don't know which ones you mean?! I can't remember any malfunctioning doors in Far Grove right now, for me they all work...

In Fargrove there are several doors that show on the map as yellow dots, and those doors actually show some sort of name, yet they are non-functioning.

thanks in advance

4/21/10 Update: I've been looking through various files of both v1.4 and 1.5 to see differences. In both versions, the file pname.dat had 3 big changes from 1.4 to 1.5. Also both versions of the dlords.exe is riddled with changes.

In the theatre, something is preventing the name [Loose Brick] from showing when the character stands near it in version 1.5, consequently it can't be activated.

I found something strange about the theatre. Remember the lift lever that doesn't seem to do anything? It's the one in the basement, just below the stage area where you get the second key during the one big battle.

I hex edited my location from the beginning area of the game to end up directly at the infamous non functioning brick. Then from there went to the stage area for the big battle and the elevator on the stage area was down. Seems as if I threw off the game's triggering mechanisms for events.

And to make it even stranger, I went to the bridge that requires a key and the three enemies are stairing across the downed bridge expecting you to approach from the other side. The same thing happens in version 1.4. :speech:

Just started a new playthrough with your mod. It does seem to run smoother and hang up less on my system (laptop with Vista, 1GB RAM, 2GhZ processor, ATI Radeon Xpress 1100). It was still playable before, but does run smoother with the mod

Sometimes the textures will still load and I'll have to reload the game, sometimes multiple times (with different textures working/disabled with each load: grass, shrubs, trees, etc) to get all of the mods working at once.

Haven't gone far, yet
