(out of game, was my roll alright? is it take a 10 and add my level + my inteligence level or do I make a d20 then add my level+int bonus?)

I also recite what the "drow" bard told me
"And so the great beast will awaken...awaken with all it's burning bloody bile filled fury and it's even more terrifying magic! And it shall, it shall, oh yes it shall destroy everything.

Who can say why? Why would they do this? What would posess such a foul creature to do so," he says using his illusion magic to produce the visage of a Tiger, lion and other animals akin to that hunting it's prey, destroying everything in it's path. "Doom! Doom is the inevitable outcome of man, those who trench their way in the gods realm as our Heroin Madelin has done. She must die, she must pay the price for her folly!"

You see a humanoid figure now, fighting off the tigers and lions. This humanoid figure has long silky white hair, and translucent insect like wings on her back. Although she has magic and uses it against the tigers, it seems their burning rage is too much, and one bites her in half. "Save one, save a thousand, it does not matter. She has died, she has paid the price for her treachery.

But what was it that she did you ask? What was so evil that required such a brutal death? Do you all want to know?!" He raises his voice. The audience, in complete hypnotism all shout in unison "Yeah! Tell us yeah!!!" And with a quick twiddling of his fingers, he disappears and his voice seems to eminate throughout the entire inn "Another time perhaps. Muhuahahahahahahahaha!" he gives an evil cackle.

You hear a whisper behind you, as if suddenly the performer is standing next to you "If you help madelin, you are one of them. Doom will befall you the same as it did her. Live here as a slave, or die outside pointlessly, it seems Oliddamara is not on your side as much as you had hoped!" You turn and find no one, and can only contemplate who he was and how much he knew.
"He is far more powerful and skilled than I.. He is not to be treated lightly"

"That indeed was the theme of the play I witnessed as well but do you really think there is some truth in it? Some relationship to what we now behold in the night's sky? But how could it? T'was just a silly act!"

"We must find this Dervish and beg him for answers, or beat it out of him! But how does one go about finding one who moves at will unseen, amongst the shades?"

@Kozeph-

To recite word for word the play the drow did, That's more or less the Autohypnosis skill (found in the psionics section of the SRD). I'll allow the skill if one of you actually wants to take points in it, it's always been a fairly reasonable skill, but just a note, it's a wisdom based, not intelligence.

I went ahead and made your wisdom check for you, and you succeeded so the three players currently together all know what the play was about.

@All players-

Considering her busy life, I'm going to separate the party into two. You three will be one, and she will be the other. This will probably work out for the best either way considering her alignment opposes two of yours'.

In Game-

Currently it's well into the night, nearly 2 in the morning. It's too late to do any tracking or questioning, you all feel you would have better luck tomorrow during the day.

A bard, a sorcerer and a druid? That's a pretty weak party at low levels. Go easy on us.

[in game]

"Druid, your story is full of holes. Derrik, we need a better lead to act upon. And I need to sober up. Suggest we meet back here in the morn". [Monarch stumbles down the street, looking for another inn...anything. If he finds one, he pays the charge and passes out. If not, he finds whatever shelter he can in an alley or behind an outbuilding]

ToDM: please advise upkeep and HP recovery.

Keep in mind that this is a metropolis, there are duplicate buildings all over, so there's probably about 6 to 8 inns in this city.

You all find a fairly reasonable inn, near the tavern that Derrik works in.

Upkeep is 3 Silver, HP recovery is standard.

Upkeep noted and deducted. In regards to HP, you'll have to de-n00b-ify that comment please. Standard? I'll look that up in the PH. Also, any XP for messing around at the inn the night before?

@RPG: Standard HP regen is your level when you sleep. So were lvl 1. we get 1hp in an 8hr period.

Thanks Demortis. Cheers.

FYI, when my character says "full of holes" he just means that 'creatures' is pretty non-descript. That could be anything from fire beetles to ancient red dragons that torched your forest. Also, the tale has no apparent motive. Monarch is a fool but he's not a complete fool. :D

@Taruil- You settle on a small village to the east, seeking shelter from the wild in exchange for healing their wounded.

Upkeep is free, you gain 250XP.

@Derrik, Monarch and Tyvin-

You all gain 500XP.

You all have a decent nights sleep despite the terrifying omen in the sky the previous night. No rude awakenings or disturbances.

Looking out the window, there seems to be a thick fog throughout the entire city, you don't remember it raining but then stranger things have happened. The city is still bustling as ever, people scattered through the streets buying and selling wares from the open market, slave trades going on, shops are just now opening up for the day and most Taverns are closed.

At your doorways, you each see a letter with a red wax seal with the logo of this city on it. Opening it, all say the same to each of you.

"Greetings from the White Ribbon Sanctuary.

You have been cordially invited to attend a summit in regards to last nights recent disturbance. You three are among the few common citizens in this city with the potential and wherewithal to understand the true glory of magic and it's wonders, therefore your input into this regard will be highly appreciated.

Please attend on 1-30-0512 [roughly eleven days from now] at our grand hall in the northernmost section of Mt. Copperwhistle. It is a five to eight day journey on foot, so ensure you are well prepared.

The location of our Grand hall is highly classified, therefore the evidence of this letter will burn once the reader has finished reading. Enclosed is a small signature coin that will allow you to gain entrance to our fortress deep within the mountains.

Sincerely, Montgomery T. Wickerwand III, Thamaturge and Astrologer of Makvara."

After reading Makvara, it seems the letter does indeed disintegrate right before your eyes. The coin inside the envelope though seems to be in tact. It is a coin with a white sheen on the metallic surface, probably made of copper considering the location of the fortress. A white ribbon indentation is directly on the center of the coin, and on the opposite side is the face of a Halfling, with the word Whickerwand circling on the bottom of the coin (similar to "In god we trust" on an American quarter).

Monarch pockets the coin with great excitement, imagining the adventures to come. He packs up his gear, has a hearty breakfast downstairs and settles his tab.

He then makes his way, still feeling a bit sore, back to the street outside of the inn where he met Tyvin and Derrik. He's got it in his head that there might be time to have Tyvin escort the group back to his grove, where we might investigate and find some clue as to the attackers. If we could locate some evidence and bring it before the Wickerwand gathering, there might be a connection. That might be worthy of a reward! At the least it might help us prepare for trials to come.

He just hopes the grove is not too far or too far out of the way.

Tyvin knows first hand that it's at least a two week journey to the island.

Heads to the same spot as last night and starts to prepare for the journey.

"You do realize that it'll be two weeks travel time. I dont plan to stop unless its needed. Even if we have to push it."

Going and gathering two weeks worth of food for Kono and myself.
