Menzoberranzan was a role playing game that SSI brought out in 1994. The game starts in a human village which is attacked and torched by Drow. After you help to douse the fires it comes to light that a lot of villagers have been kidnapped. Your task is to find the entrance to the Drow lair and descend into the underdark, find the Drow city and free the captives. It's a party game, and when ou find the entrance you are confronted by A Drow elf wielding twin scimitars who offers to help you.

There is one fairly large (by the standards of the day) where you can hone your skills a bit, but from then on it's a dungeon crawl ending with you (in disguise IIRC) exploiting Drow intrigue to achieve your ultimate goal.

Menzoberranzan is of course Dizzt's home town, so maybe this is the first encounter he has with the surface. I'm not sure about this because I've never bothered with any of the books, but I've always since then considered Drizzt to be 'my' protegé.

PS I still have the original disk for the game, but have never been able to get it to run on XP.

A bit too obvious.
Menzoberranzan is...
I know. Although i much more liked the Menzoberranzan from Wars of the Spider Queen than Drizzt's tales.

I struggled to get Magic the Gathering to work (Microprose 97') but eventualy managed to start it. Nothing a few.. nights of constant swearing won't solve!

You can also rank your Top 10 most anticipated games; Some gamers find ranking upcoming games more fun than listing past gems.
Here are the current results with Mass Effect 3 on top, closely followed by Portal 2.

You seem to have a private message on gamebanshee, mister Papissama.
Don't ask how do i know, it's a trade secret. :)

ME3 will remain on top, and rightfully so. It's very, very hyped. It finishes a saga. Both prequels were good. While not everyone expects it to be good, everyone wants to see it.

There are, however, many more polls on Unik from what i saw.

Not hate, I just have issues with the way many of them are too much style over content, and virtually all of them are pushed out before they are finished, requiring at least one patch before they are actually playable. There have been some enjoyable ones, eventually, but I decided to base my selection on an 'out of the box' basis, and every game I've bought over the last eight or so years fall at that hurdle.

I agree completely. There is a rampant 'lets fix it in a patch' mentality. A few of the games I listed were certainly brilliantly flawed on release. VtM:Bloodlines having the game ending bug with Soc. of Leopold. Dragon Age is one of the few games I've played that worked brilliantly on release and got more buggy with subsequent patches (1.03 patch).

Download this
If you don't know how this works, go here

Then this for sound.

If your CD is screwed (which is also a possibility) then get Menzoberranzan here

Word.

Thanks Stworca, but I've been using Dosbox for years, and it won't solve this particular problem unfortunately.

Do you have a disk or did you download it?

I do appreciate the help by the way.

You're the first person i've heard from about the game, so i downloaded it. I ran it on vista. I only have experience with EoTB, Master of Magic, DM and the card game (MtG) made by microprose, so don't ask me about any options, i followed the readme :D

I thought that you might have downloaded it, the problem I have is that the dos program that came on the CD to handle the CD reading simply won't work on NT based OSs.

Can you PM me where you downloaded it from?

Some new cool features have been added with the redesign but it's still not finished yet.
What do you guys think so far though?

I think this is the first time ever someone has reminded me of actually having played that game. I hardly remember a thing, but I do remember I played it, together with some SSI game called Dark Sun. At the time, I was looking for something to play after my first computer game experience, the Pool of Radiance series, but I didn't find anything I really liked so I stopped playing for several years.

I refrain from making a list, there aren't 25 or even 10 videogames I really like. Diablo II, Football Manager, The aforementioned Pool of Radiance series, Planescape: Torment, Grim Fangando and the Baldur's Gate series are among those I like.

When i browse through my personal top list (on profile, the list on the right) the flash seems to mess things up, and the whole list moves up. Fresh opera instal, latest flash. Not sure if it's a website issue or mine, but there you have it.

Also i'd rather have you extend the review limits, but it's just a personal opinion of one of your page users. I admit i rarely visit it as it is (well, not at all), as there is no point after you vote. The info on games are pretty short, and while you may be the worlds best administrator and reviewer, one person can have only one opinion about each game, and opinions differ.

But i do like the slogan behind the site.

Ahoy!

25 points to Vampire: Bloodlines from me.

Can I assign all the rest to Bloodlines as well? Pretty please, with sugar?

Review has been extented for 500 to 750 char for now :)
I've also fixed up Opera troubles, but the navigator has some major issues since its latest update.
