What happened to me? Back in 2001 when I joined this forum, I was a PhD student in neuroscience and although I worked quite a lot, I had far more time to spend on entertainment than I have now. Back then I only had to focus on my own research - now I'm a bloody ass. Professor and have to deal with teaching, making courses, collaborating with lots of other groups spread all over the world and supervise my students. I've spent a large part of this year creating a 5-year plan for a project that's going to be performed all over Europe.
In my private life, I'm the mother of a very active and talkative 4-year old but I'm divorced from her father. After having worked as a guest researcher in the US for 2 years and in Japan for a couple of months, we are back in Sweden. Living in the US was a terrible experience for me and although I was offered a very good position I just could not live there, particularly not with a child. I just can't accept that kind of society, so I was happy to return to my old university.
As for why I don't hang our here anymore; I have no time to play computer games, so the connection here is lost while I stay in touch with some of the old members I used to interact with via Facebook and occational e-mails. And I still think I am the GB member who has met most other GB members IRL
