Just wanna drop by and tell you that i haven't abandon you all, but i see that the story line is quite entangling so it's quite difficult for me to create a story without disrupting the story line. I'll be lurking this topic for the time being and if i have something that i can come up with i'll post Image
Keep up the good work...but please simplify the story Image

Sorry, fell asleep last night. (I seem to have a constant stream of excuses, don't I? Image)

@Fallout: You're leaving? Image We'll miss you. Maybe we can fill in for you the rest of the week if you can come on Sundays.

@Aegis: Possed? Image It's possessed. Image (Sorry, couldn't help myself. No offense.) I'll accept your claim as head bad guy. But your development was rather confusing (see my e-mail).

@All: If anybody has any questions about what's going, or needs clarification, I'd be happy to answer them. Ask away. Of course, some things I purposely don't reveal, but I'll give hints if needed. Here's some hints to the orign of the "entity":
1)Magus: "I was forced to flee the Planar Sphere, and set up my new home here. It took several years of hard toil, but I finally finished. It is constructed of my essence. The labor told on me, and it took another few years before I recovered my full strength."
2)Narration: "Just as the instability reaches the critical point, she (Aerie) stands and exerts her will for one last effort, but this time to convert the wild energy instead of contain it."
Hopefully this will help clear things up.
Aegis made some plot alterations (avatar to mortal again), so that's why his character development may seem confusing. Ignore all of the references to Talos, and Aegis becoming an avatar. It was actually him being possessed my Raistlin.

Melosh-tar: Glad to see you back. I'll answer any more questions you have (except the Entity, which I may hedge on). If you want, we can e-mail each other to consider what you want to do next with your part of the plot.

@KidD01: What do you suggest? I'm open to any input you could provide.
I'm trying to keep things together as much as possible. I'm trying not to tamper with Aegis's plot because he got pretty peeved at me when I did that back in the Rift. My part is deliberately confusing right now to keep Rail and Fallout guessing as to what's going on. It'll be resolved soon. Once I've finished with this new tangent, we should be out of the Rift. Then you can join up. Perhaps you can have a brief confrontation with Aegis or Melosh-tar for now.

@Rail: We're not in Magus's bedchambers anymore. We're in the library. However, there are pictures in there. BTW, Aerie has awakened, though she has not stood yet.

"Uh, Void," Rail's thoughts sounded shaky at best. "Now would be a good time for a teleport."
Void's response is soft and forced. He pauses often to gather strength. He can only manage to direct it at Rail.
I can't focus my mind enough...I don't think escape is possible. The entity is...much too strong for us to combat. But...we must do something now...before it is too late.
The connection dies as Void's telepathic hold slips. His form shifts eerily in and out of existence, as if on the verge of dissipation.
Rail's fragged mind struggles to think clearly. The paintings seem to be their only chance of actual escape from the situation. However, these ones don't have the golden frame, and don't seem to shift and blur like the ones in Magus's room. Strange.
In lieu of escaping, they could try to appease the entity. As to how they would do that, Rail hasn't the foggiest idea.
Then there's always Aerie... She was there before them, so perhaps she would know what's going on.
Rail sees Aerie struggle to stand. She radiates a visible aura of bright yellow. She looks puzzled, but her typical timidity is replaced with determination. Her eyes gleam with surprise as she senses the power, but the revelation does not seem to intimidate her.
One way or the other, Rail knows he has only moments more to act. Another frighteningly powerful mind blast could come at any time, and somehow Rail knows he won't survive it if it comes...

@Fallout: Just because I wrote this from Rail's perspective doesn't mean you can't come to your own decision, even if it splits with Rail's. Each character (even Trip-Wire), must make his own decision. I'm sure Fallout has a number of thoughts running through his head too.

@Magus- BTW, how come I'm the one carrying your body around. My strength is marginal at best. Fallout has 19 strength. Image *geesh!*
Oh, and I think we need to get out of the Rift ASAP. I still follow everything going on, but then again, I'm about every third post here. It's too complicated for others to follow and write in. Let's get back to Athkatla, a place where everyone's familiar with, and simplify things. I have plenty of ideas to get the story back on track, but you're the only one who can get us out of the Rift without me using a "deus ex machina" (sp?).
Oh- and we have some catching up to do. Aegis was in Menzoberranzen for several days and just came out.

Rail looks over at Aerie as she struggles to stand. Suspiciously, he notices the strange yellow halo around her, and she seems far less affected by the voice than any of the others. Shakily, she climbed to one knee as fallout issued his curse and battle cry.

The assassin gently set down the sleeping Magus and leapt over to the groggy elven maiden. "Here, take my arm," Rail offered forth his elbow and assisted the frail Aerie to a standing position. She was not unattractive, per se, but as tied to magic as she was, Rail couldn't help but feel his stomach turn ever-so-slightly when looking at the woman. At least she seemed to hold on to her innocence. She was the only magic user Rail had ever met with any semblance of innocence. Magic usually tore that first from it's wielders, but the foul art never stopped there.

Glancing up, Rail braced himself for the next blast. There was no where to run. No escape. Cautiously, he sent out a thought. "Your power is killing us!" Quieter, almost as an afterthought, the assassin added another thought. "Magus?!?" He was uncertain of the power's origin, but there was something about the voice... He glanced pleadingly at the gentle Aerie.

@Rail: Finally! Image I was making plans to kill you all for your indecision and bring you back to life Image I suppose my storyline is becoming rather complicated and confusing. I'll try and wrap everything up after this incident with the entity is over. This next entry advances my plot line a good way towards completion.

He glanced pleadingly at the gentle Aerie.
Another surge of power interrupts Aerie's response. The entity speaks again, but death does not trail in its wake. The surge is still uncomfortable, but bearable at least.
I WILL RESTRAIN MYSELF. BUT MY COMMUNICATION HARMS YOU? HOW COULD YOUR MINDS BE SO FRAIL?
The voice that is neither male nor female is flowing with curiosity. It dawns on Rail that the being doesn't know its own power. Suddenly, Rail is reminded of an eager child. Smiling grimly, he hopes it doesn't have a temper tantrum...
Aerie telepathically answers the entity, and Rail is struck by her calm, melodic voice. If the psionic blasts affected her at all, she hides it well.
Their minds are not frail; your power is simply enormous.
SO YOUR MIND IS STRONGER?
Yes, I suppose. But you said we woke you from oblivion. How did this happen?
I DO NOT KNOW. I JUST BECAME AWARE OF MYSELF SHORTLY AGO. NOW WHO ARE YOU CREATURES, AND WHAT IS THIS PLACE THAT I FEEL IS MY HOME?
This place was created by Magus the Conjurer, and I am his beloved, Aerie. The other three humans here are Rail the Assassin, Fallout the Barbarian, and Trip-Wire the Bard. The hakeashar is Void, Magus's familiar. The one that lies still is Magus himself.
YES, SOMEHOW I KNOW THIS. I SENSE THIS. THIS PLACE IS MY HOME, AND THE ENERGIES BECKON TO ME.

Abruptly, everyone, even Aerie, feels as if their souls have been bared. The feeling is over quickly, but each person feels somehow violated.
YOUR LIFE ENERGIES ARE FASCINATING. BUT THE ONE CALLED MAGUS HAS NO LIFE ENERGY, YET HE DOES NOT CEASE TO BE. I SEE A FAINT CONNECTION THAT CONTINUES TO BIND SOUL AND ENERGY, THOUGH ENERGY IS FAR REMOVED. I TRACE THE BOND...AND IT LEADS TO AERIE. SHE HAS ENERGIES THAT MIX AND MINGLE, THOUGH ONE VICTOR HOLDS TRUE OVER THE ONE THAT SACRIFICED...
Suddenly the voice becomes puzzled, and then it vibrates with passion.
BUT THIS CANNOT BE! I SENSE THAT IT IS OF THE ONE! I CANNOT ALLOW IT TO BE SUBDUED AND ASSIMILATED. THE ENERGIES MUST BE SEPARATED, AND THE ONE RETURNED TO HIS GLORY!
Without warning and right before Rail's eyes Aerie is engulfed in deep turquoise flames. She screams and writhes for a while in inhuman agony, then collapses to the ground, strangely unscorched but pale with death as flames continue to consume her. Magus's prostrate form is similarly doused in magical fire, but he actually seems to get better rather than worse. Color returns to his skin as the flames continue to rage.
Void watches in horror, but makes no move to intervene. The others finally recover from the initial shock, and their minds race as they try to decide what to do.

@I collect more data and learn that at the from the end of this month i cant post 2 months. Maybe sundays after 2 month. Image

Watching events with a open mouth Fallout thinks what to do. There isnt an enemy to attack. What is the relation between Magus and this creature. Is this Magus. Or entire rift turn into a living thing. Without knowing what to do Fallout turn to Rail.

@Fallout: That really blows. We'll miss you. Image We'll just have to enjoy the time you have left here.
BTW: You're thinking exactly the way I want you to think. That's a good thing. Image

I'll wait for Rail before we move on. I'm being deliberately cryptic right now, so I expect confusion.

@Magus- Sorry, I've had a sick 1 yr old and haven't been able to post much at all, the last couple of days. He's fine now, so I'm back. Image

Rail frowned, but only watched the fire as it engulfed his two allies. He felt nothing. Only emptiness and cold filled his heart. He didn't care whether the fire consumed or restored the mage, as long as it bought time to gain an exit to this place. Such an emotional void was not unusual to Rail, but it usually came after the thrust of his silent blade as the need for flight filled his thoughts. Rail's survival instincts had taken over shortly after the onslaught of the child-like power, and he felt little or no emotion, only the need to find a way out of the Rift.

Fallout glanced questioningly at the assassin, but Rail subtly motioned the barbarian to hold. What could be done against such power, afterall.

The assassin glanced up at Void, questioning if the creature yet had enough strength for a teleport spell, but the hakeashar seemed intent on his burning master. If only Rail could read such a creature's body language as he could any number of people walking the streets so familiar to him. The Rift suddenly seemed like a very small place as the assassin waited and watched the burning figures. His burning friends.

@Aegis: You'll have to wait for your "playthings" a little longer. Image How about you consolidate your power in Athlatka before we arrive?

The flames rage on for a few more moments, then slowly die down, the last flames finally flickering away. Magus and Aerie lie still, neither awakening. Aerie's beautiful face remains contorted in agony, and she is pale as death. Magus's condition has improved drastically. Color has returned to his body, and he breathes easily in his slumber.
The genderless voice speaks in everyone's mind once again, neither upset nor remorseful. THERE, IT IS DONE. HIS SOUL HAS BEEN RESTORED TO ITS RIGHTFUL PLACE.
A long silence is finally broken by Void.
You could have killed them both! What were you thinking?! Void's tone is accusing and irate.
THEY BOTH LIVE, SO NO HARM IS DONE. IT'S NOT MY FAULT YOU CREATURES ARE SO FRAIL. The entity's voice is confused and defensive. Detachedly, Rail notices its immature attempt to shift blame.
Void's eyes flare in dangerous fury.
You try to kill my master and mistress, and then blame them for not being able to defend themselves?! Void's reason is overcome by rage. He flings all his remaining strength into a powerful psychic shock.
OUCH! YOU WILL BE PUNISHED FOR YOUR EVIL HOSTILITY.
A blast of raw psychic energy rips into Void. His essence is shredded by the terrible force right before Rail and Fallout's eyes. Then the aftershock hits them, and they are struck temporarily senseless. When they recover, Void is gone without a trace. As they stand gathering themselves, Magus stirs and opens his eyes.

@All: Things are reaching a conclusion in the Rift. We should be out soon.

@Magus- just keep going for a bit. Neither TripWire, Rail, or probably fallout will react much.

Rail incredulously watched the absolute destruction of Void with a touch of sadness. He knew he should feel more for the creature he had become to call a friend, but all he could think of was that another avenue of escape had been eliminated. That left only Magus. If he recovered. Rail's knuckles turned white with anticipation as he gripped the sword at his belt, but he simply watched on.

Tripwire hurried over to the weakened Magus as the mage opened his eyes and struggled to sit up. Glancing up at his companions, the bard was annoyed to note neither the barbarian or the thief moved to help. "They only care about their own skins," muttered the disgusted bard as he knelt down to assist the mage to his feet.

@All: I am warning everyone now! This FINAL plot of mine will lead into the final confrontation! I have returned to Athkatla, and have seriously warped what it once was. The people have been enslaved, and I have a deamon horde patrolling the city. Where ever Melosh, and Waverly are, they are noticing the effects. If there are any complaints, please tell me, and I will edit it. You have been warned.

Aegis sat on a twisted throne of black obsidian, and cold iron. He no longer desired such comforts most humane people saught after. His complete nature had been bent and twisted to a dark and evil visade. Upon his return to Athkatla, he began the final steps of his plan. He enslaved Athkatla. The once loud, bussel of Waukeens Prominade was now silenced, expect for the slight moans, and pleighs for help. One every street of the city he had fiends and deamons called forth to do his indomitable will. The Radiant Heart had been wiped out to all but the Praelit, and a small band of Paladins. The Harpers, he had driven out of the town, and the Shadow theives had gone into hiding.

Over top the city were birds once flew, and the sun shone warmly on the city, was now covered in a black mass of mist, and arcane power. He had grown in such power since Void first showed him his potential. His mentor had just finished off his teachings, and was now instructing Aegis how to seperate him from his mind. As a bonus to Aegis, his mentor would have taught him every thing he knows, and have a physical mentor to follow. Aegis was now just finishing the incantation, and his mentor was to show.

A dim light penetrated the room, and hit the floor by Aegis's feet. Slowly, a figure was being created in the mist. A human figure. As the mist parted, a man wearing black velvit robes could be seen. His skin was a golden colour, and his eyes had been cursed with the sight of time. Long white hair streamed over his shoulders, and many component pouches hung at his belt. The man raised his hand, and motioned for Aegis to hand him the staff of Magius. Raistlin Majere had gained corporeal form again, and was now in Faerun. With a fighter/mage such as Aegis fighting with him, anyone would be hard pressed to take control back....

@Melosh & Waverly: If either of you are going to do something, do it fast. I'm trying to build up to the end of the story here, and get Fallout into it as much as I can. The choice now is to fight with Aegis, againest him, and againest him and Magus.

@Magus: You better have some nice tricks up your sleelve, cause my plot is done. I;m just waiting for the final confrontation.

@Aegis: Sigh...do I have any tricks up my sleeve? Not presently, and even if I did it wouldn't matter. The problem is that your character alone wasted a swarm of my extremely powerful elite guards, and defeated my characters at the absolute peak of their power. Now you think that we can possibly defeat you, your mentor, and your horde of demons with some of the characters at significantly reduced power? I just can't see it happening without:
1)Me pulling something out of my a**.
2)Someone else pulling something out of their a**.
3)You having some sort of catastrophic disaster.
If you were powerful enough to defeat us at the Rift, we simply do not have a hope of beating you when you're even stronger than before. Does anyone else agree with me, or am I just being defeatist?

Sounds to me like you could use another person to teleport in and help out in some way or another... perhaps a very powerful character?

@Magus: Okay. First, I never said you had to FIGHT the daemons, you could sneak past. Plus, if you do know Raistlin as well as I think you should, you should know that he's a bit of a power monger himself. Also, keep in mind Aegis did all this while Raistlin was still inside of him, feeding him his power as well. So, in the long run, Aegis's power has been decreased, he just doesn't know it yet. Plus, Raistlin was the evil ambition in him, so Aegis has his conscious back, and could potentially return to his former comrades, if they want/need him to. Keep in mind also that Raistlin used a lot of people to further himself, just look at Caramon, his own brother. So, in my mind, I think I have set up a good ending, and depeneding on what all the goodies do, and what Melosh and Waverly do, we could have a good fight. Oh ya, your also a defeatist. Image
