Paladin and no Avenger just don;t cut it.

Please someone tell me the Holy Avenger will return in NWN! Without it a Paladin just aint a Paladin in my eyes :P

In these games (BG and IWD) I only ever play Human and Lawful good. (I find it I like to stick to my race...no elf's for me thanks...) A Paladin perfectly fits this depiction. I like the fighter as my PC, but I also want a bit of brain with the brawn too..so Paladin is the way to go for me.

I have also played Figher/Mage in the BG series (Lv8Fighter/31Mage)..even though I enjoyed this I still find Paladins role play the best in these Medievil games myself.

Considering you'll be at BG1 levels of xp during NWN I think Carsomyr would kinda stick out a bit. Just a wee bit too powerful?

Personally I'm looking forward to NWN not being drenched in the +4, +5 weapons that ToB has. Hell, you can buy standard +3 weapons from the Saradush innkeeper. Compare this to the +3 two-handed sword being a major reward after a hard bit of Durlag's Tower. Using unenchanted weapons will be refreshing.

So I just stood and listened.

I always play my chaotic good single class elf assassin. I have as much fun each and every time. Why? Dammed if I know. Never catch me playing a tin-head though. The most radical I'm going is elf ranger for NWN.

I reckon a Paladin is almost the last class I would play. In BG magic is by far the most fun, although in my P&P days I used to like playing some flavour of thief...

If anything the last few posts should prove one statement to be true..

To each their own =p

I've always been into Paladins myself, and I've got to agree, I almost miss the challenge of Bg1 and Bg2, ToB seemed to get excessive in that you mowed through everything that wasn't Melissan.

I like Paladin becase they are the 'good guys' to the bone. If you know what I mean...

Dude, the most fun is when you play the game through for the first time. Whenever I played ti again with another class I found it boring because I knew where everything was : traps, enemies etc...I like a Well rounded class with good fighting abilities and a bit of magic to back it up. After all, I find it boring not to have my PC in the hand to hand combat. Sitting at the back of the pack all safe and casting massive spells just don;t feel the same...plus: no ciritcal hit screen shakes! I love the RUMBLE! "TORM TAKES YOU!" :D :D ;) ;)

[EDIT]
A Holy Avenger doesn't mean the Carsomyr period. It means a simple sword wich has a 2d6 bonus to damage vs. evil dudes plus a few other bonuses. These extra bonuses only come in the hands of a Paladin.

More like using unenchanted weapons will be reloading :D .

Seriously I agree with you; having a general +6 ANYTHING is seriously broken. The 'need' for +4 weapons in SOA (liches and improved mantle) really left the designers nowhere to go if they were to give 'improved' rewards in TOB. - Curdis

I would like to see Anti-Paladin kit in NWN . There is an +5 sword in BG called Unholy Reaver which can be used by this class . No special enchantment though other than being an +5 sword .

Assassin are the nice guys who like to poison their weapons, or am I wrong? In my p&p AD&D days the use of poison was considered an evil act. Skills & Powers manual even states that the assassain kit is only intended for non-good characters.

This is PnP stuff only - so don't all line up to rip me a new one

@Phantom Lord, The use of poison in any form has always been an at the DM's discretion thing. Poison use, particularily the save at -8 or die stuff, can seriously unbalance the game.

I feel the designers of BG2 wanted to allow as much choice as possible for players in this game and so relaxed the poison use guidelines from what most DM's would implement. - Curdis !
