I thought that even though the story line in IWD was a dungeon crawl, the magical treasures and items were the best of all the games so far! They were more numerous but alot less powerful than in the other BIS games. I personally hope that in IWD2, they continue to follow this trend. I liked the things like the "Broken Bag of Holding" or the "Mage Dagger". I thought that whoever sat down and thought all of these things up was a true genius, but also a fan of PnP DnD!

C'mon now!
Are you guys telling me that there are no favorite items out there? How about any ideas for new items? I had two just this morning:
Elven Scout's Leather: Leather/Studded Leather armor +0 to +4
Dose not restrict the casting of spells. Usable by muli-classed mages and rangers.
Robes of Amn: Any non-magical gem placed in the pockets of this robe will be magically duplicated in 24hrs (has 4 "slots" to place gems, 1 gem per slot, no stacking). +1 AC.
These are in the old rules format for D&D but I am pretty sure that they could be implemented in the new rules with little effort. (Especially after I learn them!)

Re: C'mon now!
I did come up with an idea for a new item, one I plan on creating detailed information on for possible use when I play PnP D&D. It's a sword that can become a whip(with sections of the blade all along the whip). In whip form, it would be a Vorpal(?) weapon and do bonus slashing damage. As a sword, it would probably be either a Long Sword or a Bastard Sword.
It's been a while since I played IWD, as I have been focusing more on finishing BG2 and P:T, so I don't recall enough of the items to remember my favorite. What I do remember, though, are the Bardic Horn of Valhalla and Dead Man's Face. Thanks to that last one, my Fighter/Mage/Thief had a Charisma stat of 2 for much of the game.Originally posted by The Stranger

I liked the weapons in IWD because of their chance effects. I really enjoyed the % chance of the power taking effect.
I noticed that in ToB more of these type creeped in - they weren't so numerous in SoA (the Katana, begins with "C", I forget).
The 2-Handed sword of Hammering for example was one of my favourites. There were lots of neat bows too (not so much of a problem in SoA) and crossbows. Repeating crossbows were awesome.
Anything that wastes undead too - Three Doves was a must in HoW.

I have red somewhere that the loot from the battles in IWD2 will be very random that means that even if you kill a small band of Orcs you might be given a very rare item and you will not get the same items over and over again.
As for my fav weapons, the title goes to Pale Justice
, maybe one of the best weapons in D&D and also has a great story, except maybe from the Sacred Staff of Light and the Dreadsweord Daemoniac from PoR.

Actually, I really enjoyed some of the armour and shield descriptions. Some great stories there ("Bathed in Blood" for example) and magical bonuses.
In fact, I'd have to say IWD has some of the best armour I've seen - especailly the Vexed Armour.

I actually just started to toy around with my copy of IWD just to get back into the mood, so to speak. I loved those two holy shields that you could find in Dragons Eye: The Shield of the Red Knight and Umberlees Shield. They were random treasure on the bottom level in a chest. Thier stories were really cool! I also liked the stuff you picked up in the Severed Hand. That Ring of Sanctuary saved my butt a couple of times!
