You should just be glad you don't have the 15-16 year olds @Mah. Is it a boarding school too?

IMO single-sex schools make it harder for the students to relate to the other gender, which is not at all a good thing.

...cause I know my limits ;) ...

...though I must admit having to be around these older girls can be a pain in the *_*_* :o

Yup, all of the foreign teachers here are males and we all agreed on the same thing.

As for the uni-sex school, I agree with you on that. However it all boils down too on how their parents can address this.

I used to teach in a Jesuit school for boys only. We would always have soirees with girls from exclusive girl schools.

Heya, Georgi. *hug* How did it go?

I just learned from Odie at the other thread...

...congrats on your graduation, Gorgeous One.

@Odie on girls being a pain on...: but of course, as you would have it. ;)

:o Not worth taking any risk of being a pervy at our place of work.

@Eery a drink would be fabulous, thanks... barman's choice ;)

Yeah, just got back from my graduation ceremony (which my parents insisted on going to)... I hate these formal things, sitting in a stuffy hall listening to some old geezer in a silly costume making an inspirational speech... And having photos taken in academic dress, etc. *sigh* Well, at least I didn't trip and fall over on my way up the steps to collect my certificate... ;)

Single sex schools - definitely a bad thing IMO. My parents wanted me to go to an all-girl grammar school... no way. :D

Beldin:

@Georgi: I would have imagined YOU the perfect inmate at a single sex school. This statement takes me somewhat by surprise.

@Mah: Nothing pervy about wanting to shoot them out there "where no man has gone before" ;) :D ..

You'd trust your drink selection to a monkey?

My dad tried to send me to an all-boys school which had Church assembly every morning...That idea didn't last long, I can tell you. :D

I think graduation ceremonies in general are just there so the powerful staff can make themselves (and their kids) look good. That was the way it worked at ours, only the 'tame' students were allowed to make speeches. :D

...I myself didn't get what Odie was driving at right away. :o

@Georgi: The last thing you need is to trip and hurt your feet again. ;)

I'm still collecting my thoughts as to Odie's thread on uni vs coed schools.

@Odie: No, it's not a boarding school... anymore.

@McB I doubt they will arrive before I leave, so probably... never :p :D

@Beldin what are you trying to say?

@Ode my parents made me take the entrance exam for the all-girls school, just in case I changed my mind... hah! :D Fortunately they never suggested the local church school... ;)

The only person who made speeches were the chancellor and umm... some guy who told us the whole bloody life story of the guy who was receiving an honourary degree! None of the students got to make speeches. I was quite amused when the chancellor assured us that shaking hands with every student etc was not a formality, since they really care about the achievements of all their students... But the most amusing thing had to be the ridiculous ceremonial things like the chancellor and the presiding officer doffing their caps at each other every so often... :D

@Mah or trip and hurt my ego :D (The ceremony was being videotaped... )

Oh and @Ode well, the monkey can mix drinks, he must have reasonable powers of discrimination. :D

Glad to know it won't die a horrible, not-posted-in-death, then. :)

@Mah-I meant both reasons why you're lucky, the pain in the ass and the other one... ;)

@Georgi and Beldin-I downloaded Trillian earlier, BTW. :)

EDIT-Go Mah!! :D We weren't even allowed to choose a song that we wanted played to commemorate the occasion, the school picked it for us...

I wasn't much of a model student during my early years at college. The Guidance Counsellor told me something about not reaching my full potential...

Well whaddayaknow... I'm now a teacher! :D
