the much maligned, but a very good weapon, the equalizer

Post by UserUnfriendly »

so you guys think the equalizer sucks, right???

well, it turns out the eqalizer is actually a very good weapon...very good indeed if you have a kensai or kensai mage main character...or if like me you were playing the sola mod with sola as mage kensai multi class...speed demon...almost unkillable, if you have a kensai, they cannot wear helms, right???

so how many of you collect helms of charm immunity and consider that item number one on must have on all fighters???well a kensai mage then uses equalizer on off hand, you have the important charm, and confusion immunites...
thus you can use wong fei ioun stone for back up regen, and axe on primary slot for vorpal attack and regen, and for sola the moon blade for stat boost...thats what the stone is for, to take over when you switch off primary regen on character, cause thats the axe....

turns out regen dont stack, so the fastest one sets the speed....

get the point, though??? kensais are great npcs...especially mage duals...fast, almost unkillable, and cant wear helms, thus making chaotic commands a must, until you get equalizer....

Vhell....

I never play fighters, and when I do.. Its always a Barbarian, Bezerker or Inquisitor, charm just aint'nt an issue,

Not if like me, you parties consinst of 1 or 2 tanks only

And one of them can always have the bois on the spell deflection page... since all charms are directly cast, this not only protects it deflects (Bad rhyme unintentional)

The only things that can charm a high save char anyways are succubus and mind flayers, I fight mind flayer exlusivly with summons and Succubus are so rare that a little prep time doesnt slow you down too much

High saves are well and good, but not when every mage in the game is casting chaos/confusion/domination at you after greater malison. Usually I dual-wielded Valygar with CF & his family blade, but eventually the omnipresent confusions made it much less annoying, if not as powerful, for him to have the equalizer in his off hand.

most mages die before they get the chance to look at me funny, let alone cast a spell

Given that my char choices are generally, Inquisitor, Archer, Assasin Fighter, Stalker, Kensai theif

Im not trying to say that your stupid, or the equalizer is dumb.. It just has little or no place in my party lineup

I don't know... You do have a point User, but Chaotic Commands is still better, IMHO.
Cleric gets TONS of spells, and CC last for AGES.
And every Kensai/Mage, whether dual or multi (i thought i was the only one who changes Sola! :D ), should use SI in tough fights, thus making CC undispellable.
There are too many good choices for the off hand weapon - much better than the lousy Equalizer, IMHO.

It depends on mods.
If you play without Wes' mods and ToB, then the equalizer MAY be reasonable...
But both of them supply much better off hand weapons the the lousy equalizer... The Acid Katana is, IMO, the best off hand weapon, maybe better than Crom!

The only reason that I never use the equalizer is because it takes ages to get and requires you to collect all the pieces.

Compared to Crom (as a weapon that the blacksmith assembles), the equalizer is lacking and doesn't offer anything amazing at all by that stage of the game- IMO

I agree..

for anyone with Wk, its really does fall short... But, its not worth not getting, since youl want the exp from the places its peices are found and by the late game the forging fee is so low (in comparison to how much dosh you have), you may as well get it for those pesky succubus and such
