Alright... If you won't make this into a BG1 vs 2 thread, then were do I post to make a new one? *Grin*
I thought all of the wilderness areas were the best part, actually.... Gave my charactors a chance to level up, and the thrill of finding that "impossible to beat" enemy lurking somewhere in the woods was just so cool for me. You never knew where you would find NPCs (Viccie's rescue to get her to join the party was completely unexpected and fun for me), so I was fine with that.
I can't say much for party interactions for BG1 (I remember Jaheira and Khalid having as many as two dialogs together through the whole game, wierd considering they were hitched...), but that's another reason why I like SoA tons. I've played completely through SoA with Lorlei, Seteal, Eva Reena, Delara and Simbul, and plan to play through with a Bard as my PC and am still not sick of it. You get more dialogs every game, which is just so much fun.
Spamming this thread, aren't we?
Hmmm...well I dont feel like making a new thread...and Im sure there is a thread SOMEWHERE out there that has this debate.....but oh well...we'll just continue it here.
Lets see....I
hated the fact there was potential of a creature that was too high a level had potential of beating the crap out of my party....Here are some reasons:
1) It makes me lose confidence in my party...discouraged...
2) With my already high state of nervousness....having that situation made it worse...I fought headaches...I fought stress...but gosh darn it...I WAS going to defeat the dang basilisks! (or whatever I was facing)!
3) Well I usually either give up the ghost really early or NEVER give up the ghost. I did both-sometimes putting no effort into a fight I should have tried and often just ran away from that spot from there on out....Or I tried beyond belief different strategies to beat the situation. Time passes, and I keep trying....eventually I try to find ways to cheese my way through it. Gosh darn it....it was frustrating....But I did it!
Granted finally finding an NPC you knew was out there was fun and exciting.
I also didnt like how the plot was introduced or practiced. I think I found that also frustrating. For a while I just didnt feel like there was any plot at all.
